Hemocomponent therapy was used in 181 patients (347 eyes) with central chorioretinal dystrophy. Activated autoplasma possessing a marked resorptive effect, consisting in resorption of hemorrhages and exudations on the fundus oculi, was used. The clinical picture of craniopharyngioma was studied in 41 patients over 45 years of age. Disorders of visual functions were often the first and only manifestation of the disease. Dissociation between the condition of these functions and changes in the fundus oculi, asymmetric visual disorders in the right and left eyes and high incidence of central scotoma are the peculiarities of the ophthalmological complex of symptoms in craniopharyngioma.

Analysis of seventy-seven monocular photographs of the fundus oculi of normal subjects and patients with various glaucoma stages has brought the authors to a conclusion on the diagnostic value of the symptom of the optic disk 'outlining' vessels, phenomenon of the optic disk 'sinking', phenomenon of retinal nerve fiber 'loss', and reduced number and diameter of the retinal vessels in the patients with initial stages of glaucoma.

Search for the subjective methods for the diagnosis of diseases of the fundus oculi in children necessitates the development of new methods. The authors are investigating the possibility of fluorescent angiography with oral administration of fluorescein with due consideration for the allergologic history and other conditions that may be contraindications against intravenous administration of the agent to children. Fluorescent angiography was carried out in 15 children aged 4 to 15. The procedure was well tolerated, no complications were recorded.

Examinations of 179 patients with peripapillary geographic choriopathy (PGC) revealed that peripapillary landscape-like foci often involving the macula and periphery of the fundus oculi are the pathognomonic symptom of PGC which permits the diagnosis of the condition without additional examinations in more than 90% of patients. The incidence and types of complications are assessed. The possibility of a unilateral disease is proven. Previous data on the nontuberculous origin of PGC have been confirmed.

A maternal toxoplasmosis before conception is exceptionally transmitted to the fetus. We report an observation of twin sisters who presented congenital toxoplasmosis with chorioretinitis detected at nine months of age. The anamnesis revealed that the mother had had toxoplasmosis one month before conception. In the event of preconceptual infections, we propose fetal ultrasonography, histological examination of the placenta at delivery, as well as a pediatric follow-up of the infants (serological samples every month, cranial ultrasonography, fundus oculi).

We studied fundus oculi in 234 newborns, divided into two groups of mothers and neonates with or without disease. The overall frequency or retinal hemorrhages was 30.3% (71 neonates). In each group, we studied the association between retinal hemorrhage and several variables of labor and the newborn infant. Statistically significant differences were found in the incidence of hemorrhage in one (2.6%) neonate born by cesarean section, as compared with 61 (38%) spontaneous or 9 (25%) forceps delivery.
