Digital Health Interventions Incorporating Behavior Change Techniques and Gamification for Bladder Health in Adults Aged 50 Years and Older: Rapid Review.

BACKGROUND: Urinary incontinence (UI) is the most prevalent pelvic floor dysfunction, with incidence increasing with age. Numerous studies have demonstrated the effectiveness of pelvic floor exercises in improving UI. However, access to pelvic floor treatment remains limited due to lengthy waiting lists and poor adherence to prescribed exercises. Digital solutions incorporating behavior change techniques (BCTs), including gamification elements, may support self-management of bladder health for individuals aged 50 years and older who may face challenges in accessing conventional treatments. Association between behavioral phenotypes and response to a physical activity intervention using gamification and social incentives: Secondary analysis of the STEP UP randomized clinical trial.

Participants often vary in their response to behavioral interventions, but methods to identify groups of participants that are more likely to respond are lacking. In this secondary analysis of a randomized clinical trial, we used baseline characteristics to group participants into distinct behavioral phenotypes and evaluated differential responses to a physical activity intervention. Latent class analysis was used to segment participants based on baseline participant data including demographics, validated measures of psychosocial variables, and physical activity behavior. The trial included 60

A randomized controlled trial of gamification to increase physical activity among black and Hispanic breast and prostate cancer survivors: Rationale and design of the ALLSTAR clinical trial.

BACKGROUND: Survivors of breast and prostate cancer, especially those that are Black and/or Hispanic, are at high risk for cardiovascular events. Physical activity can reduce the risk of cardiovascular events in cancer survivors, but Black and Hispanic people are less likely to engage in routine physical activity. Concepts from behavioral economics have been used to design scalable, low-touch gamification interventions that increase physical activity in individuals at high risk for cardiovascular events, but the effectiveness of these strategies in Black and Hispanic survivors of breast and pr

Rationale and Trial Design of Feedbacks Using Behavioural Economic Theories on STEP Counts (FOOTSTEPS) Trial in Patients With Cardiovascular Disease.

UNLABELLED: Physical activity is crucial for reducing cardiovascular disease (CVD) risk. Interventions for nonsupervised exercise therapy have not been broadly implemented, and few patients with CVD achieve the recommended activity levels (eg, 8000 daily steps). Behavioural economics-based programs increased physical activity in the general population; however, their effectiveness-including the impact of gain vs loss framing-in patients with CVD remains unclear. This study investigates the effectiveness of gamification with social incentives and support in promoting physical activity among pat

FUN AND GAMES: DESIGNING A GAMIFIED CENTRAL VENOUS CATHETERIZATION TRAINING SIMULATOR.

Gamification, or adding elements of games to training systems, has the potential to increase learner engagement and information retention. However, the use of gamification has yet to be explored in Central Venous Catheterization (CVC) trainers which teach a commonly performed medical procedure with high incidence rates. In order to combat these errors, a Dynamic Haptic Robotic Trainer (DHRT) was developed, which focuses on vessel identification and access. A DHRT+ system is currently under development that focuses on whole procedure training (e.g. sterilization and catheter insertion), includi
