Generative Artificial Intelligence as a First Responder in Adolescent Testicular Torsion: A Case Report.

Testicular torsion is a time-critical urological emergency in which every hour of delay erodes the chance of testicular salvage. Adolescents frequently delay presentation because of embarrassment, denial, and parental "watch-and-wait" behavior. We report the case of a 15-year-old boy who developed sudden, recurrent testicular pain while alone at home and, instead of waiting, queried ChatGPT for advice. The chatbot unambiguously directed him to seek urgent medical help. He presented to the emergency department within approximately two hours, underwent emergency scrotal exploration with successf

On the role of generative artificial intelligence in the development of brain-computer interfaces.

Since their inception more than 50 years ago, Brain-Computer Interfaces (BCIs) have held promise to compensate for functions lost by people with disabilities through allowing direct communication between the brain and external devices. While research throughout the past decades has demonstrated the feasibility of BCI to act as a successful assistive technology, the widespread use of BCI outside the lab is still beyond reach. This can be attributed to a number of challenges that need to be addressed for BCI to be of practical use including limited data availability, limited temporal and spatial

GAIDeT (Generative AI Delegation Taxonomy): A taxonomy for humans to delegate tasks to generative artificial intelligence in scientific research and publishing.

BACKGROUND: The integration of generative artificial intelligence (GAI) in research raises concerns about transparency, accountability, and task delegation. While frameworks such as CRediT and the NIST AI Use Taxonomy address contributions to research, they either exclude AI-assisted input (CRediT) or do not provide a stage-specific approach (NIST). A structured taxonomy is needed to delineate GAI's contributions across research stages while preserving human oversight and research integrity. METHODS: This study introduces the Generative AI Delegation Taxonomy (GAIDeT), informed by existing co

Children's susceptibility to content generated by artificial intelligence.

Advancements in artificial intelligence (AI) tools can make it difficult to discern what is "real". Though children are interacting with AI-generated materials through entertainment and learning applications, no published work directly considers children's ability to distinguish human-created from AI-generated information. In the current study, 37 children (6-10 years old) heard a narrative about a "SmartBot" (representing AI) that could write text, invent photos, and create art. They were then asked to discern which in a series of stimuli including short texts and images of objects, art, and

Artificial General Intelligence for the Detection of Neurodegenerative Disorders.

Parkinson's disease and Alzheimer's disease are among the most common neurodegenerative disorders. These diseases are correlated with advancing age and are hence increasingly becoming prevalent in developed countries due to an increasingly aging demographic. Several tools are used to predict and diagnose these diseases, including pathological and genetic tests, radiological scans, and clinical examinations. Artificial intelligence is evolving to artificial general intelligence, which mimics the human learning process. Large language models can use an enormous volume of online and offline resou

The synthetic position: generative artificial intelligence and the suspension of self-authorship in emerging adulthood.

Generative artificial intelligence (AI) has been widely treated as an instrumental aid to thought, a faster route to information, drafting, and articulate self-description. This article problematizes that framing and argues that, when enlisted for the intimate work of deciding who to become, conversational artificial intelligence alters the structure of emerging adulthood, not only its content. Working within Dialogical Self Theory, which conceives the self as a society of relatively autonomous I-positions integrated by a promoter position, we propose that a large language model in self-format

A collaborative creation framework for experimental animation pedagogy integrating generative artificial intelligence and vibe coding.

The growing use of generative artificial intelligence (GAI) in art and design has accelerated image and video automation. In this landscape, preserving media experimentation, authorial judgment, and generative unpredictability has emerged as a critical focus in experimental animation education. While existing studies mainly focus on production efficiency, limited attention has been paid to how GAI supports concept development, motion translation, media organization, and creative decision-making in classroom practice. Addressing this gap through design-based research (DBR), this study introduce

Cross-institutional dental electronic health record entity extraction via generative artificial intelligence and synthetic notes.

BACKGROUND: While most health-care providers now use electronic health records (EHRs) to document clinical care, many still treat them as digital versions of paper records. As a result, documentation often remains unstructured, with free-text entries in progress notes. This limits the potential for secondary use and analysis, as machine-learning and data analysis algorithms are more effective with structured data. OBJECTIVE: This study aims to use advanced artificial intelligence (AI) and natural language processing (NLP) techniques to improve diagnostic information extraction from clinical n
