Annular elastolytic giant cell granuloma is a condition characterized histologically by damaged elastic fibers associated with preponderance of giant cells along with absence of necrobiosis, lipid, mucin, and pallisading granuloma. It usually occurs on sun-damaged skin and hence the previous name actinic granuloma. A similar process occurs on the conjunctiva. Over the past three decades only four cases of conjunctival actinic granuloma have been documented. All the previous patients were females with lesions in nasal or temporal bulbar conjunctiva varying 2-3 mm in size. We report a male patie

BACKGROUND: O'Brien described four histopathological patterns of actinic granuloma (AG). Since then, only single cases and a few series have been reported in the literature, most corresponding to cases of the giant cell type.
METHODS: We reviewed all the cases diagnosed as AG or elastolytic giant cell granuloma (EGCG) in our department from 1988 until 2010. The biopsies were classified into the four patterns previously described.
RESULTS: Giant cell pattern was found to be the most frequent (70% of the cases). In four cases, the biopsies showed more than one histopathologic pattern. All the

This report reviews the literature involving the central giant cell granuloma. Diagnosis and treatment are presented. The article reports the case of central giant cell granuloma, affecting the anterior region maxillary of a child, whom a conservative treatment, with cryotherapy, helped the preservation of anterior permanent teeth germs.

A slowly enlarging gingival mass with a reddish-purple surface is observed in a school-age boy. The lesion was first noted 3 months ago during a routine oral examination but recently it has increased in size and interferes with eating. A periapical radiograph demonstrated focal loss of the alveolar crestal bone in the mandibular incisor region. The diagnosis of peripheral giant cell granuloma, a benign reactive gingival lesion, is confirmed by histopathologic examination. Early detection and excision of this hyperplastic nodule is important to minimize potential dentoalveolar complications.

A case of giant cell reparative granuloma in a 16-year-old girl has been reported. This is the first reported case of giant cell reparative granuloma associated with enchondromatosis. In addition to the clinical features, the pathologic findings and differential diagnosis were also discussed.

The lesion reported in this article destroyed much of the right side of the mandible in a 14-year-old boy. Clinically, it resembled Burkitt's lymphoma and was initially treated as such. After correct microscopic diagnosis, the mass regressed with the use of intravenous amphotericin B and surgical reduction. The histologic comparison with giant-cell granuloma is considered.

This article presents a clinical case of a central giant cell granuloma (CGCG) resembling a periapical lesion of endodontic origin. A 39-year-old, otherwise healthy male patient was referred to the department of oral and maxillofacial surgery for its diagnosis and subsequent management. The patient presented with an asymptomatic, progressively increasing intraoral swelling associated with the mandibular left para-symphysis region. On radiographic evaluation, a unilocular radiolucent lesion involving 33-34 teeth was noted. An incisional biopsy presented a giant cell lesion, following which surg

Central giant cell granuloma (CGCG) is a benign but locally aggressive intraosseous lesion of the mandible. Historically, it is treated by curettage or resection. Medical therapy is indicated when surgery is associated with increased morbidity or in adjuvant setting to decrease recurrence. Treatment of CGCG with denosumab, a receptor activator of nuclear factor kappa-beta (RANK) ligand inhibitor, is not well studied, especially in children. Here, we describe our experience with the use of denosumab in the treatment of six children with CGCG. All patients had a favorable response with manageabl

BACKGROUND: Central giant cell granuloma (CGCG) is a rare, non-neoplastic, benign lesion that exhibits expansive and osteolytic biological behavior. CGCG treatment and management is challenging for clinicians.
CASE PRESENTATION: This report presents the treatment and management of recurrent, aggressive CGCG after surgical resection. After informed consent was obtained, the patient underwent radiotherapy. The lesion size was reduced significantly, with no evidence of recurrence or malignant transformation.
CONCLUSIONS: This treatment experience indicates that radiotherapy can be used as a res

<p>Annular elastolytic giant cell granuloma, also known as actinic granuloma, is a rare skin condition with a chronic course that is often resistant to treatment. Literature is sparse, and only a handful of case reports are available to guide treatment decisions. Typical first line treatment options include topical and intralesional steroids, topical pimecrolimus, and cryotherapy. Resistant cases have been treated with cyclosporine, systemic steroids, antimalarials, and oral retinoids. In particular, acitretin and isotretinoin have shown success in three cases. However, these medications can h

The purpose of this report was to: summarize the care of a child between the ages of 12 to 16 years old born with Noonan-like central giant cell syndrome and unrelated common variable immune deficiency; provide information on the dental management of patients with Noonan's syndrome; and present a brief discussion of the recent associated genetic findings. A review of the common features of Noonan syndrome and Noonan-like central giant cell syndrome is also provided.

BACKGROUND: The rising number of dental implants placed in the treatment of partial or full edentulism confronts the clinician with more implant-related pathology. The presence of a transmucosal component resembles the natural tooth and makes it likewise prone to oral plaque adhesion and plaque-related diseases. However, non-plaque-related diseases can also occur around implants.
CASE: This clinical case describes the historical background, the diagnosis, treatment and follow-up of a 33-year-old female patient presenting with a peripheral giant cell granuloma surrounding a maxillary implant.

PROBLEM: Giant cell granuloma (GCG) is a rare nonneoplastic bone lesion that occurs mostly in the jawbones; few cases arise in the remainder of the skull, including the temporal bone. Previously, giant cell lesions of the temporal bone were regarded as giant cell tumours (GCT). The importance of distinguishing GCG from GCT lies in the presumed difference in prognosis; GCTs have higher rates of recurrence, metastasis, and malignant transformation.
METHODOLOGY: We describe the case of a 12-year-old child with temporal bone GCG extending to the middle cranial fossa. The patient underwent a subto

BACKGROUND: The Central Giant Cell Granuloma (CGCG) is an uncommon benign lesion of the jaws. It occurs predominantly in children and young adults, and may cause local destruction of bone and displacement of teeth.
CASE REPORT: Two case reports are presented illustrating the joint management of children with this condition by paediatric dentistry and maxillofacial surgery teams.
CONCLUSION: The role of the paediatric dental team is extensive in children with CGCG and coordination of care from both teams is essential to ensure that the highest quality of care is provided.

PURPOSE: To report a case of cherubism with extensive, bilateral orbital involvement occurring in a 27-year-old woman who had the diagnosis established at the age of 4 years.
DESIGN: Single interventional case report.
INTERVENTION: Ophthalmologic examination and computed tomography were performed. The patient underwent multiple surgical excisions using a bicoronal and transorbital approach. The excised orbital tissues were studied histopathologically.
RESULTS: Computed tomography showed bilateral inferior lateral masses involving the orbital floors and producing marked superior displacement

Central giant cell granuloma (CGCG) is a benign intraosseous lesion of the jaws that is found predominantly in children and young adults. The lesion appears mostly in the mandible and presents as a unilocular or multilocular radiolucent defect. Although it is benign, it may be locally aggressive, causing extensive bone destruction, tooth displacement and root resorption. Two variants of the lesion, non-aggressive and aggressive, have been described. Traditionally, CGCG was treated surgically with aggressive curettage and peripheral ostectomy. The more aggressive type or recurrent lesions requi
