INTRODUCTION: Meniere's disease is a labyrinth disease that usually presents with episodes of spontaneous vertigo associated with sensorineural hearing loss, tinnitus and ipsi- and unilateral aural fullness in most cases. Vestibular function tests, video-head-impulse test and the caloric test, are not specific for diagnosis of the disease, but may show alterations that help to evaluate the functional impairment.
OBJECTIVE: To describe the results obtained at the caloric test and video-head-impulse test in patients with definite Meniere's disease and compare them between symptomatic, asymptoma

Background: The video head impulse test (vHIT) is a standard tool for assessing semicircular canal function through vestibulo-ocular reflex (VOR) gain and corrective saccades (CS). Although reduced gain accompanied by CS typically indicates vestibular hypofunction, a paradoxical pattern-normal gain with CS-is occasionally observed, and its clinical significance remains unclear. Methods: We retrospectively analyzed 1573 patients who underwent both vHIT and bithermal caloric testing between September 2022 and September 2025. Among them, 1174 subjects with normal bilateral horizontal VOR gains (0

In patients with Ménière's disease (MD), caloric testing can show, depending on the stage and activity of the disease, a variety of results. Between attacks, many, or perhaps even most, patients with unilateral early or mild MD have normal caloric tests; late MD can show abnormalities ranging from mild to severe unilateral canal paresis with or without directional preponderance. The explanation of canal paresis in MD is not clear. The most obvious explanation, severe loss of lateral canal hair cells, is not likely to be correct because hair cell loss will not explain the fluctuating canal pare

The head-impulse test (HIT) is an important test for examining unilateral vestibular hypofunction. The new video-head-impulse test (vHIT) is more sensitive and specific than the clinical bedside-head-impulse test (bHIT). Alternatively, one can test for vestibular hypofunction with the caloric irrigation test. Various studies showed that both tests may not always identify vestibular hypofunction; instead, the results of the tests might be contradictory. To evaluate the diagnostic value of these tests, we routinely measured patients exhibiting vertigo or dizziness at our community hospital with

BACKGROUND: Dizziness is a common reason for people to seek medical care. Acute vestibular syndrome (AVS) is a specific type of dizziness, which can include severe vertigo, nausea and vomiting, nystagmus, or unsteadiness. Acute vestibular syndrome can be due to peripheral or central causes. It is important to determine the cause, as the intervention and outcomes differ if it is from a peripheral or central cause. Clinicians can assess for the cause using risk factors, patient history, examination findings, or advanced imaging, such as a magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). The head impulse, nysta

UNLABELLED: Vestibular Migraine in children can mimic other disorders, especially at presentation. Outcome is hard to predict and management may be challenging due to the fact that many of the patients are too young to describe their symptoms and these are not always accompanied by headache.
OBJECTIVE: To assess vestibulo-ocular reflex (VOR) in pediatric patients who meet criteria for defined Vestibular Migraine and to compare results to healthy controls.
METHODS: Twenty-one patients aged 11-16 years were included in this prospective multicentric study. VOR was assessed using the video Head
