Development of multi-epitope driven subunit vaccine against Fasciola gigantica using immunoinformatics approach.

Fascioliasis, a serious helminth disease of the livestock population, results from infection with the parasite Fasciola. Despite the alarming increase in drug resistance, a safe and fully effective vaccine for fascioliasis is still not available. In the present study, we employed high-throughput immunoinformatics approaches to design a multi-epitope based subunit vaccine using seven important F. gigantica proteins (cathepsin B, cathepsin L, leucyl aminopeptidase, thioredoxin glutathione reductase, fatty acid binding protein-1, saposin-like protein-2, and 14-3-3 protein epsilon). The CTL, HTL,

Immunoinformatics-aided rational design of a multi-epitope vaccine targeting feline infectious peritonitis virus.

Feline infectious peritonitis (FIP) is a grave and frequently lethal ailment instigated by feline coronavirus (FCoV) in wild and domestic feline species. The spike (S) protein of FCoV assumes a critical function in viral ingress and infection, thereby presenting a promising avenue for the development of a vaccine. In this investigation, an immunoinformatics approach was employed to ascertain immunogenic epitopes within the S-protein of FIP and formulate an innovative vaccine candidate. By subjecting the amino acid sequence of the FIP S-protein to computational scrutiny, MHC-I binding T-cell ep

Systematic review of reverse vaccinology and immunoinformatics data for non-viral sexually transmitted infections.

Sexually Transmitted Infections (STIs) are a public health burden rising in developed and developing nations. The World Health Organization estimates nearly 374 million new cases of curable STIs yearly. Global efforts to control their spread have been insufficient in fulfilling their objective. As there is no vaccine for many of these infections, these efforts are focused on education and condom distribution. The development of vaccines for STIs is vital for successfully halting their spread. The field of immunoinformatics is a powerful new tool for vaccine development, allowing for the identi

Time for T? Immunoinformatics addresses vaccine design for neglected tropical and emerging infectious diseases.

Vaccines have been invaluable for global health, saving lives and reducing healthcare costs, while also raising the quality of human life. However, newly emerging infectious diseases (EID) and more well-established tropical disease pathogens present complex challenges to vaccine developers; in particular, neglected tropical diseases, which are most prevalent among the world's poorest, include many pathogens with large sizes, multistage life cycles and a variety of nonhuman vectors. EID such as MERS-CoV and H7N9 are highly pathogenic for humans. For many of these pathogens, while their genomes
