BACKGROUND/AIMS: There are few reports on the cytokine response to high frequency hand hygiene among health care workers (HCWs) in an occupational setting. We have observed significant skin barrier compromise consistent with chronic irritant contact dermatitis in HCWs. Invasive urothelial carcinoma (UC) has diverse morphological presentations. Here, we describe the case of a Japanese woman aged in her early 60s with UC with unclear differentiation. The patient presented with distinct glandular differentiation and concurrent cystitis glandularis (CG) and intestinal metaplasia (IM) without a conventional UC component. OBJECTIVE: To evaluate the diagnostic approach and criteria for intraductal papillary neoplasms of breast.
METHODS: According to the criteria of 2003 WHO classification, 187 cases of intraductal papillary neoplasm of breast were identified and enrolled into the study. The clinical and histologic features were reviewed and immunohistochemical study for CD10, p63, CK14, CK5/6, CK7, MGB1 and p53 were carried out on 53 cases.

We investigated immunohistochemically 20 basal cell carcinomas (BCC), five pilomatricomas, and nine seborrheic keratoses using anti-BCC keratin monoclonal antibody (BKN-1) and anti-hair keratin monoclonal antibodies (HKN-2, HKN-4- -7). BACKGROUND: Pachyonychia congenita (PC) is an autosomal dominant, very rare keratin disorder caused by mutations in any of at least four genes (KRT6A, KRT6B, KRT16 or KRT17), which can lead to hypertrophic nail dystrophy and palmoplantar keratoderma, among other manifestations. Classically, patients with mutations in KRT6A and KRT16 have been grouped to the PC-1 subtype (Jadassohn-Lewandowsky type) and KRT6B and KRT17 to PC-2 (Jackson-Lawler type).

This study was undertaken to evaluate biometrically the changes that occur on the recipient as well as on the donor tooth with regard to gingival recession, sulcus depth and width of keratinized gingiva after performing a lateral sliding flap in the treatment of localized denuded roots. Tonsillectomy tissue can be used as a routine source for cultures of oropharyngeal keratinocytes. In so doing, a peritonsillar strip of unaltered mucosa was dissected in the upper submucosa. PURPOSE: To report 2 cases of lid margin keratinization (LMK) associated with chronic ocular surface inflammation, which were successfully managed using laser photocoagulation.

Recently the treatment of psoriasis with vitamin D3, its metabolites or analogues, has been reported to be clinically effective and free from side effects. We have quantified the changes in the levels of epidermal lesional keratins in 15 psoriatic patients receiving oral 1 alpha(OH)D3 treatment. Lesions were sampled before treatment commenced and at monthly intervals for 4-6 months.
