Ovarian Sertoli Leydig cell tumors (SLCT) accounts for less than 0.5% of all ovarian malignancies. The incidence of primary extra-ovarian SLCT is extremely rare with reported cases occurring in young adult women till now. We report case of primary retroperitoneal extra-ovarian SLCT in a seven-year girl child without any hormonal manifestation. She presented with complaint of left side abdominal swelling associated with intermittent pain for a duration of six months. CT scan revealed a huge retroperitoneal space-occupying lesion abutting the dorsal vertebrae and present posterior to pancreas, s

The lung is the most common site of metastasis for many malignancies. Especially the gastrointestinal system, gynecological malignancies and osteosarcomas frequently metastasize to the lung. It accounts for less than 0.5% of all ovarian neoplasms. The frequency of recurrence and metastasis is less than 5%. In most cases, they are stage I tumors, limited to the ovary and carry a good prognosis. Here, while investigating the nodules in the lung that were detected incidentally at the age of 64, the rare Sertoli-Leydig cell tumor of the lung is discussed clinically, radiologically and pathological

A 71-year-old woman was referred to the endocrinology clinic to investigate postmenopausal hirsutism with 10 years of evolution. She had history of regular menses and menopause with 50 years old. Physical examination showed a male pattern facies, deepening of the voice, androgenic alopecia and hirsutism with a score of 23 according to the modified Ferriman-Gallwey scale. Testosterone and androstenedione were increased. Transvaginal ultrasound, abdominal and pelvic CT showed uterine fibroids with no pathological findings in the adrenals or ovaries. Since she had postmenopausal vaginal bleeding,

BACKGROUND Only 0.5% of all ovarian tumors are Leydig cell tumors and they are generally benign and unilateral. These androgen-secreting tumors lead to virilizing symptoms, most often in postmenopausal women. Because Leydig cell tumors are typically small, diagnosing them accurately can be challenging. CASE REPORT We report the case of a 77-year-old woman who was referred to our Endocrinology Clinic because of a 5-year history of hirsutism (Ferriman-Gallwey score of 11) with no discernible cause. The patient had high levels of serum testosterone and a normal level of dehydroepiandrosterone sul

GnRH-dependent precocious puberty in a boy with Leydig-cell tumor is presented. Precocious activation of the hypothalamo-pituitary axis was caused by long-term exposition to sex-steroids. Long-acting LHRH-analog treatment suppressed the process of precocious puberty.

Leydig cell tumours account for only 1-3% of all testicular neoplasms. They are commonly detected as palpable masses, but can present with precocious puberty, gynecomastia or infertility. Although they are usually benign, about 10% of the reported cases have evolved as a malignant neoplasm. There are no histologic features pathognomonic for malignancy and metastasis is the only certain criterion of a malignant. Leydig cell tumour. The follow-up must be prolonged. The treatment of this tumour is orchidofuniculectomy by inguinal approach, associated with retroperitoneal lymphadenectomy when regi

Klinefelter syndrome is associated with the development of breast and extragonadal germ cell tumors in some patients. Leydig cell tumor in association with Klinefelter syndrome is a rare entity. We report such a case to illustrate the usefulness of MR imaging in detecting a testicular neoplasm when clinical examination and ultrasonography are equivocal.

Hyperandrogenism in postmenopausal females may arise from either ovarian or adrenal sources and can pose a challenging diagnostic dilemma. We present the case of a 66-year-old female with postmenopausal hyperandrogenism with virilization, adrenal incidentaloma, and concurrent finding of two extremely rare ovarian tumors, including bilateral Leydig cell tumor and Brenner tumor. Laboratory tests showed elevated testosterone and androstenedione and normal dehydroepiandrosterone sulfate (DHEAS). Response to 1 mg overnight dexamethasone suppression test demonstrated persistently elevated testostero

Ovarian sex cord-stromal tumors are rare and include adult granulosa cell tumors, juvenile granulosa cell tumors, and Sertoli-Leydig cell tumors. Adult granulosa cell tumors the most prevalent malignant ovarian sex cord stromal tumors are the focus of the review which synthesizes published data to highlight the diagnostic challenges and the controversies surrounding the management of adult granulosa cell tumors, juvenile granulosa cell tumors, and Sertoli-Leydig cell tumors. Adult granulosa cell tumors have frequently been misdiagnosed, with up to 30% of cases reassigned after a contemporary r

Leydig cell tumors (LCTs) are uncommon in nonhuman primates (NHPs). A bilateral LCT was identified in a 20-year-old male capuchin monkey (Sapajus apella) maintained under human care. Ultrasonography revealed a right testicular nodule, while necropsy identified bilateral testicular masses. Histopathology confirmed bilateral LCT. This case documents bilateral LCT in S. apella, a rare finding in NHPs.

A 58-year-old man was referred to our department for further evaluation of an incidental right intratesticular mass detected on abdominal and pelvic contrast-enhanced computed tomography performed for an unrelated condition. The mass measured approximately 13 mm and was not clearly palpable on physical examination. Scrotal magnetic resonance imaging showed a well-defined, lobulated, and multinodular mass within the right testis. As a malignant testicular tumor could not be excluded, a right high inguinal orchiectomy was performed for diagnostic and therapeutic purposes. Macroscopically, the ex

Leydig cell tumors are rare but are the most common nongerm cell gonadal tumors. They are mostly benign but malignant variants have been reported. Leydig cells constitute the main androgen-synthesizing compartment in adult males but are also capable of estrogen production. This can manifest with clinical features of excessive hormone elaboration. We report a case of a 39-year-old man with abnormal bilateral breast development, reduced libido, and weak erection of 3 years' duration. He never noticed any testicular swelling before presentation. Examination revealed well-developed breasts bilater

BACKGROUND: We report the challenging case of a 6-year-old boy with precocious puberty related to histologically proven Leydig cell tumor.
CASE PRESENTATION: Multiparametric ultrasound and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) was performed. Interesting findings were scarcely or never reported in children and differed from adults Leydig cell tumors s such as the hyperechogenic halo surrounding the lesion and the dominant central vascularization using ultrasensitive Doppler. MRI revealed an enlarged testicle with strong enhancement of a tumor, a tumor apparent diffusion coefficient (ADC) of 600 × 1

Gynecomastia is a frequent sign that may be physiological or caused by various benign or malignant diseases. In rare cases, it may be caused by testicular tumors. We describe a case of progressive gynecomastia at age 20 due to a Leydig cell tumor of the right testicle in a patient with a previous history of left-sided cryptorchidism. The patient underwent orchidectomy and testicular prosthesis placement, with subsequent improvement of gynecomastia and normalization of estrogen. Our case, in addition to demonstrating that gynecomastia may regress if the underlying cause is treated in a timely m

Leydig cell tumors are rare ovarian steroid cell neoplasms. More than 75% of patients show signs of virilization due to overproduction of testosterone. We report a case of an 81-year-old woman with progressive signs of virilization, and presenting vaginal bleeding. Clinical analyses revealed high levels of serum testosterone, delta 4-androstenedione and estradiol, and also inappropriate low levels of gonadotrophins for a post-menopausal woman. Transvaginal ultrasound showed no evidence of ovarian tumor, but pelvic and abdominal computerized axial tomography imaging revealed a left ovarian soli
