In human beings the prevalence of different non-Hodgkin's lymphoma (NHL) subtypes varies according to geographical region. The aim of this study was to classify canine lymphomas in Austria and to compare the results with those of similar studies in other countries. Eighty-two NHLs were classified according to their morphology (based on the Working Formulation) and their immunophenotype (determined with anti-T-cell and anti-B-cell antibodies). Since true primary lymphomas of soft tissues are extremely rare and there are few well-documented cases in the literature, we report eight cases to help define the clinical and pathologic features of this type of extranodal lymphoma. Among 7,000 malignant lymphomas seen at Mayo Clinic over a 10-year period, we found eight cases of Stage IAE extranodal malignant lymphoma that presented as a soft tissue mass in the upper or lower extremities. Cytogenetic studies were performed on 11 Japanese patients with adult T-cell lymphoma of peripheral T-cell origin. All patients had a histologic diagnosis of diffuse lymphoma, and were treated with intensive combination chemotherapy; their median survival was 6 months. Seventy cases (47M, 23F) of primary extranodal non-Hodgkin's lymphoma of the oral region were studied to determine tumor characteristics. The most frequent disease sites were the palate (21 cases), gingiva (17 cases) and parotid gland (13 cases). 143 cases of tonsillar malignancies consulted or treated in our hospital during the past 33 years (1958-1991) were studied morphologically and histochemically. A case of primary intraocular malignant lymphoma without cerebral involvement is reported in a 30-year-old man with acquired immunodeficiency syndrome. The study of the enucleation specimen showed a B immunoblastic lymphoma with a CD30 positive anaplastic large cell component. There was no involvement of the adnexal structures of the orbit. The patient subsequently completed non-surgical staging showing no extension of the tumour. The clinical course was rapidly fatal with dissemination to the pericardium and pleura.

We report 21 cases of lymphomas associated with AIDS. Sixteen cases are Non Hodgkin's lymphomas of high grade malignancy. We report a rare case of composite angioimmunoblastic T-cell lymphoma (AILT) and diffuse large B-cell lymphoma occurring in a 48-year-old woman with generalized lymphadenopathy and hepatosplenomegaly. B cell hyperactivation accompanies HIV infection and is believed to contribute to the increased incidence of B cell lymphoma in persons with AIDS. Nineteen, primary, non-lymphoblastic, non-Hodgkin's lymphomas were investigated by conventional morphologic studies as well as immunologic studies using the application of a battery of monoclonal antibodies to frozen tissue sections. The monoclonal antibody OKT9 was applied to cryostat sections of 267 non-Hodgkin's lymphomas and related neoplasms. Eleven cases of Leu 3a+ Leu 8- peripheral T-cell lymphoma (PTCL), excluding adult T-cell leukemia/lymphoma, were studied by immunostaining with monoclonal antibodies and enzyme histochemistry in order to clarify the histogenesis of PTCL.
