Dysgenetic Polycystic Disease of the Salivary Glands: A Case Report of This Rare Entity Occurring for the First Time in the Minor Salivary Glands of the Tongue, and a Review of the Literature.

Dysgenetic polycystic disease, also known just as polycystic disease, is a very rare developmental abnormality affecting the salivary gland duct system. This entity has been reported in only 21 patients previously, although a careful review suggests only 16 patients have histological evidence of the disease. In previously reported cases, this lesion most commonly presents as either an incidental finding or as a swelling affecting the parotid glands bilaterally, or rarely the submandibular glands bilaterally. This case report details the first time dysgenetic polycystic disease is found affecti

Mucinous Cystadenocarcinoma of the Breast: A Clinicopathologic and Molecular Case Report With Literature Review.

Mucinous cystadenocarcinoma of the breast is rare and has been recently classified as a distinct entity in the fifth edition of the WHO Classification of Tumors. Here, we present a 47-year-old woman with a history of NST carcinoma in her right breast who subsequently developed a lump in the right chest wall close to the breast implant. Immunohistochemical analysis showed negativity for keratin 20 and CDX2, and positivity for mammaglobin, GCDFP15 and TRPS1 with a triple-negative phenotype. The diagnosis of primary mucinous cystadenocarcinoma of the breast was finally established. Next-generatio

Mammary-like adenocarcinoma of the vulva: a rare case report with next generation sequencing.

Vulvar adenocarcinomas are rare tumors, representing approximately 5% of vulvar cancers. Mammary-like adenocarcinomas of the vulva (MLAV) are extremely rare, and their molecular features are poorly described in the scientific literature. We report a case of an 88-year-old woman affected by MLAV with comedo-like features, with a detailed description of the pathological, immunohistochemical and molecular features. Immunohistochemistry (IHC) showed strong staining for cytokeratin 7, GATA3, androgen receptor, GCFPD15, and weak staining for mammaglobin; no staining for Her-2 was found. The prolifer

A case of "ETV6-FISH-negative" secretory carcinoma of the parotid gland: immunohistochemical study.

Secretory carcinoma of the salivary glands is a relatively new disease concept, and is characterized by "morphological resemblance to mammary secretory carcinoma and ETV6-NTRK3 gene fusion." Herein we describe a confusing case and briefly discuss practical diagnostic problems. The patient was a 71-year-old Japanese man who had a tumor consistent with secretory carcinoma at the microscopic and immunohistochemical levels. Immunohistochemically, EMA and S100 protein were noted to be positive along with various cytokeratins as well as mammaglobin and pSTAT5. Moreover, vimentin was focally positive

Oncocytic papillary cystadenoma with prominent mucinous differentiation of parotid gland: A case report.

We describe the case of an oncocytic papillary cystadenoma with mucinous differentiation of the parotid gland in a 64-year-old male. Histologically, the tumor exhibited distinctive areas of intracystic papillary growth pattern with microcystic and macrocystic spaces containing mucinous secretions and small crystals. The cyst wall and papillary fronds were lined by oncocytic admixed with numerous mucocytes. Lymphoid tissue and invasive features were not identified. The tumor showed strong expression of CK7 and mammaglobin in oncocytes, and BRST-2 and MUC4 in mucocytes. p63, ER, PR, SOX10, DOG-1

Two cases report of secretory carcinoma of the salivary gland in the lung: one primary and one metastatic after many years.

BACKGROUND: Secretory carcinoma of the salivary gland (SCSG) is a recently discovered salivary gland tumor that occurs mostly in the major salivary glands and occasionally in the skin, cervix, trachea, etc. Secretory carcinoma of the lung is extremely rare. To our knowledge, this is the third report of SCSG arising as a primary pulmonary tumor. The two SCSG cases reported in this paper are unique in that one was primary and the other was metastasized to the lung. CASE DESCRIPTION: Case 1 is a primary endobronchial tumor in a 66-year-old man. He went to the doctor complaining of fever, cough a

A clinicopathologic study of secretory carcinoma of minor salivary gland: a series of 4 cases and diagnostic considerations.

OBJECTIVE: Secretory carcinoma (SC) of salivary gland is a recently described low-grade malignant neoplasm of the salivary gland, characterized by rearrangement of the ETV6 gene. SC of salivary gland shares striking morphologic, immunophenotypic, and molecular similarity to SC of breast. STUDY DESIGN: We report the clinicopathologic features of 4 ETV6-rearranged SCs of minor salivary gland and histopathologic diagnostic considerations. RESULTS: Two cases were located in the lip, 1 in the soft palate, and 1 in the mandibular vestibule. No patient presented with regional or distant metastases

Gastric and peritoneal metastases from breast carcinoma with a mixed ductal-lobular phenotype and aberrant E-cadherin: a case report.

Gastric metastasis from breast cancer is rare and frequently misdiagnosed as primary gastric adenocarcinoma. Mixed ductal-lobular carcinoma demonstrates a unique metastatic pattern with a predilection for the gastrointestinal tract and serosal surfaces, creating significant diagnostic and therapeutic challenges. We describe a 77-year-old woman with a history of estrogen receptor-positive breast carcinoma who presented 3 years after mastectomy with epigastric pain, vomiting, and weight loss. Endoscopy revealed a malignant-appearing gastric ulcer and initial histology suggested primary gastric a

Aspiration biopsy of mammary analogue secretory carcinoma of accessory parotid gland: another diagnostic dilemma in matrix-containing tumors of the salivary glands.

Mammary analogue secretory carcinoma (MASC) is a newly described rare salivary gland tumor, which shares morphologic features with acinic cell carcinoma, low-grade cystadenocarcinoma, and secretory carcinoma of the breast. This is the first reported case of MASC of an accessory parotid gland detected by aspiration biopsy with radiologic and histologic correlation in a 34-year-old patient. Sonographically-guided aspiration biopsy showed cytologic features mimicking those of low-grade mucoepidermoid carcinoma, including sheets of bland epithelial cells, dissociated histiocytoid cells with intrac

A case of oncocytic carcinoma of the endometrium.

We report an unusual case of endometrial adenocarcinoma in a 80-year-old woman who underwent mastectomy for breast cancer at 68 years of age. The tumor diffusely involved the entire thickness of the myometrium. Atypical cells throughout the tumor contained abundant oxiphilic cytoplasm and were arranged in a solid or solid-tubular nests in a focal papillary manner. Components of the carcinoma were focally observed in situ. The tumor was classified according to the International Federation of Gynecology and Obstetrics (FIGO) as grade 2 and stage IIIa. Immunohistochemistry revealed that the tumor

Concurrent presence of secretory carcinoma and Warthin's tumor in ipsilateral parotid gland.

BACKGROUND: The presence of synchronous benign and malignant salivary gland neoplasms is very rare. The authors present a previously unreported combination of Secretory Carcinoma (SC) and Warthin's Tumor (WT) within the same parotid gland. METHODS: The patient presented with increasingly painful enlargement of the left parotid gland. CT scan with contrast revealed a heterogeneous solid/cystic mass in the superficial lobe. Fine needle aspiration cytology favored pleomorphic adenoma (PA) and patient underwent superficial parotidectomy without complication. RESULTS: Final pathology revealed con

Outcomes of treatment of mammary analogue secretory carcinoma of the parotid gland.

Mammary analogue secretory carcinoma (MASC) of the salivary gland is a newly-described, rare, malignant tumour. Few patients present with MASC of the parotid gland, so the exact characteristics, outcomes of treatment, and prognosis are unknown. The aim of this study was to analyse the clinical features and outcomes of treatment of MASC of the parotid gland in patients being treated at a single hospital. Five patients with histopathologically-confirmed MASC of the parotid gland between January 2015 and August 2018 were retrospectively enrolled. In all cases preoperative fine-needle aspiration c

A rare case of a mammary analog secretory carcinoma of the right submandibular gland.

Salivary gland cancer is one of the most common malignant neoplasms of head and neck. Not only is it rare but its clinical course is also very heterogeneous. A 64-year-old woman was diagnosed with submandibular gland carcinoma. We performed an ultrasound examination and a magnetic resonance imaging of the head and neck, which revealed an oval expansive process in the right submandibular salivary gland, indicative of an aggressive neoplasm, such as adenocarcinoma. Surgical excision and histological examination were conducted reporting macroscopically a whitish nodular formation measuring 1.5 ×

Papillary carcinoma of the breast in a male patient with a treated prostatic carcinoma diagnosed by fine-needle aspiration biopsy: a case report and review of the literature.

Papillary carcinoma of the male breast is very rare. In this case report, we describe the cytologic, histologic, immunohistochemical, and radiological findings of a papillary carcinoma of male breast. A 67-yr-old man, who had a previous history of prostatic adenocarcinoma, presented with a retroareolar painless mass. There was no known history of breast cancer in his family. A fine-needle aspiration biopsy (FNAB) was performed. Cytological examination revealed a cellular aspirate with three-dimensional papillary clusters. A diagnosis of papillary lesion favoring papillary carcinoma was rendere

Florid, papillary endosalpingiosis of the axillary lymph nodes.

A 55-year-old woman underwent radical mastectomy and axillary node dissection because of an invasive ductal carcinoma with neuroendocrine features. Histologically, all 22 sampled lymph nodes had widespread cystic inclusions lined by a regular, serous-type epithelium positive for cytokeratin-7, WT-1, CA125, and estrogen receptors. Papillary projections were found in the lumen of some cysts. The lesions were consistent with florid, papillary endosalpingiosis (FPE), a hitherto unreported condition in a supradiaphragmatic location. Metastases from papillary carcinomas of ovary, breast, or thyroid
