Facile green synthesis of silver nanoparticles using Mangifera indica seed aqueous extract and its antimicrobial, antioxidant and cytotoxic potential (3-in-1 system).

A novel approach for the utilisation of fruit waste is attempted in the present investigation. Mangifera indica seed aqueous extract was utilised for green synthesis of silver nanoparticles (AgNPs). The phytoconstituents in the seed acted as reducing and stabilising agent for AgNP formation. UV-Vis, Zeta potential, FT-IR, XRD, TEM, SAED, EDX analysis were used to characterise the green synthesised AgNPs. UV-vis spectra showed characteristic spectra at 450 nm; XRD and SAED confirmed the crystalline nature while TEM revealed the shape to be round and average size was 26.85 nm. FT-IR revealed fun

In vitro antiviral effect of sulfated pectin from Mangifera indica against the infection of the viral agent of childhood bronchiolitis (Respiratory Syncytial Virus - RSV).

The Human Respiratory Syncytial Virus (RSV) is the leading cause of acute respiratory infections in children. Currently, no safe, effective, or feasible option for pharmacological management of RSV exists. Hence, plant-derived natural compounds have been explored as promising antiviral agents. Mangifera indica is a globally distributed plant with reported anti-inflammatory, cardioprotective, and antiviral activities. Our study investigated the antiviral potential of a novel pectin from M. indica peels (PMi) and its chemically sulfated derivative (PSMi) against RSV in HEp-2 cells. The compounds

Evaluation of the toxic potential of the aqueous extract from Mangifera indica Linn. (Anacardiaceae) in rats submitted to experimental models of acute and subacute oral toxicity.

ETHNOPHARMACOLOGICAL RELEVANCE: The population has traditionally used the Mangifera indica plant leaves to treat diseases such as Diabetes Mellitus and alleviate signs and symptoms such as inflammation, diarrhea, and dysentery. In a previous study, we demonstrated that the flavonoids present in the aqueous extract from M. indica leaves (EAMI) exhibited a potent hypoglycemic effect in diabetic rats, promoting the widespread use of the plant by the population and highlighting the importance of investigating its oral toxicity. AIM OF THE STUDY: The present study aimed to assess the toxic potenti

A Mangifera indica L. extract functions as a broad TLR2/4/6 signalling rheostat to attenuate MyD88/NF-κB-driven inflammation and macrophage polarization.

Current therapies for immune-mediated diseases often lack precision, causing broad immunosuppression. While Mangifera indica L. extract (here referred to as MIE) shows promise in resolving pain and modulating adaptive immunity, its direct impact on monocyte recruitment and macrophage polarization, remains elusive. Using a reverse translational approach, we examined the effects of MIE on primary human monocytes and macrophages from healthy donors and inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) patients. We assessed its ability to inhibit monocyte transmigration across TNF-α-activated endothelial monolayer

Comparing and integrating TMT-SPS-MS3 and label-free quantitative approaches for proteomics scrutiny in recalcitrant Mango (Mangifera indica L.) peel tissue during postharvest period.

Despite substantial advances in the use of proteomic technologies, their widespread application in fruit tissues of non-model and recalcitrant species remains limited. This hampers the understanding of critical molecular events during the postharvest period of fleshy tropical fruits. Therefore, we evaluated label-free quantitation (LFQ) and TMT-SPS-MS3 (TMT) approaches to analyse changes in the protein profile of mango peels during postharvest period. We compared two extraction methods (phenol and chloroform/methanol) and two peptide fractionation schemes (SCX and HPRP). We accurately identifi

Structural Characterization of a Novel Pectin Polysaccharide from Mango (Mangifera indica L.) Peel and Its Regulatory Effects on the Gut Microbiota in High-Fat Diet-Induced Obese Mice.

The gut microbiota plays a significant role in metabolic diseases such as obesity. We extracted and purified a new type of pectin polysaccharide (mango peel pectin, MPP) from mango (Mangifera indica L.) peel. The structural analysis results reveal that MPP has a molecular weight (Mw) of 6.76 × 105 Da and the mass fractions of the main components were galacturonic acid (21.36%), glucose (8.85%), and arabinose (5.97%). The results of methylation and NMR analyses reveal that the backbone of MPP consisted of →6)-α-D-GalpAOMe-(1→ and →4)-β-D-Glcp-(1→ linkages. Based on the above structural analysis

Mango (Mangifera indica L.) polyphenols reduce IL-8, GRO, and GM-SCF plasma levels and increase Lactobacillus species in a pilot study in patients with inflammatory bowel disease.

Inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) characterized by chronic intestinal inflammation and intestinal microbial dysbiosis present a major risk factor in the development of colorectal cancer. Previously, dietary polyphenols from mango (Mangifera indica L.) such as gallotannins and gallic acid have been shown to mitigate intestinal inflammation and carcinogenesis, as well as modulate intestinal microbial composition. To further translate findings from preclinical models, we hypothesized that mango polyphenols possess anti-inflammatory and microbiome-modulatory activities and may improve symptoms of I
