[Development of digital competencies of medical staff in the context of the overall digitalization of the Russian healthcare].

The relevance of the study is due to the fact that the Russian healthcare in terms of the pace and quality of digitalization lags behind the healthcare systems of other developed and developing countries. The low level of digital literacy of medical staff does not allow them to develop the proper level of competencies for working with high-tech equipment, software applications and various telemedicine services. This, in turn, reduces both the quality and efficiency of medical care for the population. The purpose of the article is to develop a profile of digital competence of medical staff. The

[A report on staff development in advanced knowledge and technology of gene diagnosis for medical technologists by the Japanese Association of Medical Technologists: the view of medical technologists].

With advancement of the molecular biology, gene diagnosis is widely utilized in clinical application of medicine. For medical technologists, it is necessary to receive continued education to practice such advanced scientific trends. The Japanese Association of Medical Technologists established a working group for a staff development program of gene diagnosis and chromosome analysis in 1996, and has continued its activities in making inquiries about the present conditions, publishing a textbook, and providing seminars. The internal laboratory utilization of gene diagnosis was 8.7%(213 of 2437 h

U.S. Primary Care Clinic Staff Attitudes Toward Providing Medication Abortion.

INTRODUCTION: We assessed pre-intervention staff attitudes toward providing medication abortion (MAB) in 10 clinics participating in a program to adopt MAB into primary care. METHODS: In 2024, staff MAB "champions" from 10 organizations in eight states administered our online survey to staff at clinics preparing to introduce MAB (N = 888). Eligibility criteria included any staff who could directly or indirectly be involved in a patient MAB visit and did not self-identify as champions. Surveys queried on staff perceptions of implementation acceptability, belonging in primary care, readiness fo

Staff perceptions of care navigators in medication for opioid use disorder treatment settings.

BACKGROUND: Care navigators are increasingly incorporated into medication for opioid use disorder (MOUD) treatment programs to address barriers to care and support patient engagement and retention. Prior research has largely focused on patient outcomes or program effectiveness, with limited attention to how frontline staff experience the integration of care navigators into routine treatment workflows. This study aimed to examine staff perceptions of care navigator roles and identify organizational and policy-relevant factors influencing their implementation. METHODS: We conducted a qualitativ

Family Safety Reporting in Medically Complex Children: Parent, Staff, and Leader Perspectives.

BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVES: Despite compelling evidence that patients and families report valid and unique safety information, particularly for children with medical complexity (CMC), hospitals typically do not proactively solicit patient or family concerns about patient safety. We sought to understand parent, staff, and hospital leader perspectives about family safety reporting in CMC to inform future interventions. METHODS: This qualitative study was conducted at 2 tertiary care children's hospitals with dedicated inpatient complex care services. A research team conducted approximately 60-mi

The implication of ocular manifestation of COVID-19 for medical staff and patients - systematic review.

INTRODUCTION: SARS-CoV-2 (severe acute respiratory syndrome-coronavirus-2) is a coronavirus that causes COVID-19 (coronavirus disease 2019) with mild to severe respiratory illness. It is a highly contagious disease transmitted through direct or indirect contact with infected people or contaminated surfaces, mainly through respiratory droplets, but other routes are being investigated. OBJECTIVE: It is known that coronaviruses (CoVs) can cause a variety of ocular pathologies in animals, including conjunctivitis, anterior uveitis, retinitis, and optic neuritis, many of which are severe. However,

METHODS: We conducted a survey in five specialized addiction medical facilities across three prefectures in Japan. The survey included questions related to stigmatizing attitudes toward PWUD, knowledge about illicit drug use, and personal and profess

This study assesses DMD-related knowledge within a national rare disease alliance to identify critical gaps in clinical practice. METHODS: Data were collected via an online survey of medical staff across general, maternal-child, and pediatric hospitals. A structured questionnaire, developed by a multicenter expert team and refined through pilot testing, was used to assess awareness of disease diagnosis, treatm

A Staff-Directed Electronic Medical Record Alert to Increase Chlamydia Screening: A Randomized Clinical Trial.

IMPORTANCE: Chlamydia is the most commonly reported sexually transmitted disease (STD) in the US. Screening sexually active females 24 years or younger is recommended to prevent pelvic inflammatory disease and its sequelae; however, screening remains suboptimal. OBJECTIVE: To assess whether an automated electronic medical record alert directed at medical assistants who are preparing patients for office visits increases chlamydia screening. DESIGN, SETTING, AND PARTICIPANTS: The STD Testing in Outpatient Practices (STOP STDs) Study was a cluster randomized clinical trial conducted from August

Occupational risk of gastrointestinal Helicobacter pylori infection among medical and dental staff: a systematic review.

BACKGROUND: Helicobacter pylori (H. pylori) infection is one of the most prevalent infectious diseases worldwide. Dental plaque and saliva are major reservoirs for this microorganism, and some studies have shown that oral‒oral transmission is possible through close contact between physicians and dentists and their patients. This study aimed to investigate the occupational risk of gastrointestinal H. pylori infection among physicians and dentists. METHODS: A comprehensive search of PubMed, Scopus, and Web of Science was conducted up to May 1st 2025. Irrelevant articles were excluded in three s

Medical staff monitoring in interventional cardiology: over apron dosemeter placement based on measurements and simulations.

Interventional cardiology is characterized by high radiation exposure for both the patient and the operator. Adequate shielding and monitoring of the operator are fundamental to comply with radiation protection principles. In a previous work, the effect on the dose of the dosemeter position on the chest was studied. In this paper, the investigation has been completed, employing an anthropomorphic thorax phantom, equipped with arms. Although there are differences between the Monte Carlo simulations and the measurements, similar trends are observed, showing that the reduction in dose, due to the
