Sexual dysfunction, anxiety, depression and reduced quality of life in women with non-radiographic axial spondyloarthritis- a cross-sectional analysis.

Axial spondyloarthritis (ax-SpA) is a chronic inflammatory disease which causes a major deterioration of both physical and mental health. This research aimed to assess the prevalence of sexual dysfunction (SD), decreased quality of life (QoL), and depressive and anxiety symptoms in women with non-radiographic axial spondyloarthritis (nr-axSpA). A cross-sectional study was performed, involving 60 sexually active women with nr-axSpA and an age-matched group of 60 healthy women. Data were gathered through patient records and three standardized tools: the Female Sexual Function Index (FSFI), the H

MRI evidence of structural changes in the sacroiliac joints of patients with non-radiographic axial spondyloarthritis even in the absence of MRI inflammation.

BACKGROUND: Studies have shown that structural lesions may be present in patients with non-radiographic axial spondyloarthritis (nr-axSpA). However, the relevance of structural lesions in these patients is unclear, particularly without signs of inflammation on magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). We assessed the presence of structural lesions at baseline on MRI in the sacroiliac joints (SIJ) of patients with nr-axSpA with and without SIJ inflammation on MRI. METHODS: Bone marrow edema (BME) was assessed on short tau inversion recovery (STIR) scans from 185 patients with nr-axSpA, by two independ

Cross-walk of the Assessment of Spondyloarthritis International Society Health Index and Ankylosing Spondylitis Quality of Life Scores in Ankylosing Spondylitis and Non-radiographic Axial Spondyloarthritis Patients.

INTRODUCTION: Axial spondyloarthritis (axSpA) is a chronic rheumatic disease affecting the spine and sacroiliac joints, encompassing both ankylosing spondylitis (AS) and non-radiographic axial spondyloarthritis (nr-axSpA) patients. Patient quality of life (QoL) is assessed using the Ankylosing Spondylitis Quality of Life (ASQoL) (disease-specific measure) and the Assessment of SpondyloArthritis International Society Health Index (ASAS HI) (disease-specific measure). Both ASQoL and ASAS HI have similar parameters and scoring ranges, however, their performance relative to each other is unknown.

Comparison of established and preliminarily proposed ASAS MRI working group cut-offs for inflammatory MRI lesions in the sacroiliac joints in radiographic and non-radiographic axial spondyloarthritis.

BACKGROUND: A consensus definition for active sacroiliitis by MRI, mentioned in the Assessment of SpondyloArthritis International Society (ASAS) classification criteria for axial spondyloarthritis (axSpA), was published in 2009 and included a qualitative and quantitative MRI cut-off component. In 2021, updates to the quantitative component were preliminarily proposed. This post hoc analysis of part A of the phase 3 open-label C-OPTIMISE study (NCT02505542) explores the differences by applying the 2009 and preliminary 2021 inflammatory cut-offs on clinical outcomes of axSpA patients treated wit
