Bulbous tip deformity of the nose is one of the common nasal tip deformities. In general, it is thought to occur due to an increased tip volume which alters the tip dynamics. Rarely does any tumour arising from the nasal tip produce a voluminous tip. Fibrolipoma is a rare variety of lipoma that can occur at the nasal tip and it can be suspected clinically during palpation of the nasal tip due to its altered consistency. While traditionally, removal of excess soft tissue overlying lower lateral cartilages and cephalic trimming followed by tip-defining sutures are the key steps to correct any bu

The nose represents the center of the face. The nasal shape changes with the progression from infancy to adulthood. In newborns, the main supporting structure of the nose is the dorsal septal cartilage; it is the facial growth center. The loss of septal cartilage at different ages leads to various facial syndromes involving the nose, maxilla, and orbita. Therefore, every surgical treatment can compromise not only the nasal growth but also the growth of the whole face. Childhood trauma or a malformation of the nose can also cause enormous functional impairments similar to those caused by surgic

Tuberculosis is a disease of global outreach that may affect the entire human body but is most commonly located in the lungs. Otorhinolaryngological manifestations of tuberculosis are rare, mostly occurring secondary to pulmonary disease but nevertheless represent significant diagnostic challenges. Nasopharyngeal tuberculosis is rare, representing around 1% of all upper air-way localizations and the most common presentation is in the form of adenoids. Tuberculous glossitis (oral tuberculosis) is even scarcer and may present in various clinical forms, usually mimicking a malignant neoplasm, or,

BACKGROUND: Chordomas are rare neoplasms that arise from the notochord remnant. They develop in the sacrococcygeal (50%) or cervical (15%) region and are generally regarded as a locally aggressive tumor with a slow progressive growth rate and a metastatic incidence ranging from 3 to 48%. Skin involvement by chordoma is rare, but can occur by direct extension, by local recurrence and by metastases.
OBJECTIVE: To illustrate by a case report the clinical presentation and management of this disease.
METHODS: We present a case of sacral chordoma with metastases over a 10-year period to the lungs,

Solitary fibrous tumors of the nasal cavity and paranasal sinuses are rarely encountered in clinical practice. These are unusual mesenchymal tumours initially described as primary spindle-cell neoplasms. Such tumours may manifest in pleural and extrapleural sites such as the liver, parapharyngeal space, sublingual and parotid glands, and thyroid but are seldom described in the nose and paranasal sinus region. Erosion of adjacent structures may occur, but the tumour itself does not metastasise. A young patient presented with a progressive unilateral nasal mass. The initial nasal biopsy reported

Oro-nasal fistulas may result from congenital defects, trauma, infections, neoplasms, or chronic cocaine use, affecting speech, swallowing, and quality of life. The tongue flap stands out for its rich vascularization and low donor-site morbidity. A 36-year-old female presented with nasal speech and liquid regurgitation through the nose. She had a history of chronic cocaine use for 7 years, discontinued 2 years prior. Clinical and radiographic examination revealed a 2.0 cm oro-nasal fistula in the hard palate. Reconstruction was performed under general anesthesia using an anteriorly based pedic

Myxoinflammatory fibroblastic sarcoma (MIFS) is rare and malignant soft-tissue neoplasms that typically present in the extremities. In the literature, MIFS has been reported in the groin, back, neck, nose, and temporal regions in addition to the extremities. We report a case of MIFS presenting with the complaints of nasal bleeding, purulent nasal discharge, and swelling on the right side of his face. Polypoid tissues protruded from the middle meatus were observed and initial diagnosis was inverted papilloma. The painless tumor was initially mistaken for low-grade myxofibrosarcoma in biopsy. Ma

Chondrodermatitis nodularis helicis is an inflammatory condition affecting the helix or antihelix of the ear. It is commonly described as a solitary, painful, ulcerated nodule affecting the cartilage or skin because of continuous pressure, trauma, sun exposure, or ischemic changes. In this case report, we present a rare variant of chondrodermatitis, named chondrodermatitis nodularis nasi, which affects the skin and cartilage of the nose. Clinical resemblance to neoplasms of the skin such as squamous cell carcinoma and basal cell carcinoma requires that a biopsy be performed for definitive diag

Reconstruction of a distal nasal defect is challenging due to poor skin mobility and the potential for nasal alar retraction. A trilobed flap can utilize more mobile proximal skin, increase the total rotational arc, and decrease the tension associated with flap transposition. However, the trilobed flap may not be ideal for distal nasal defects because each flap is designed using immobile skin, which may lead to flap immobility and free margin distortion. To overcome these problems, the base and tip of each flap were extended further from the pivot point than those of the conventional trilobed

Juvenile nasal angiofibroma (JNA) is a benign, fibro-vascular, locally aggressive tumor with invasive growth patterns and high probability of recurrence. JNA present exclusively in adolescent boys between 9 and 19 years of age, total about 0.05% of head and neck tumors. 143 patients with JNA had been treated surgically from 2002 to August 2018 at N.N. Burdenko National Medical Research Center for Neurosurgery. All patients (primary and recurrences) were males of the age 7-38 years (16.1 [11.3; 19] years). The age of patients with primary JNA was less than 18-year old, of the exception of prese
