Prevalence of diabetes and associated obesity in Pennsylvania adults, 1995-2010.

INTRODUCTION: The human papillomavirus (HPV) increases the risk for cancers of the cervix, oropharynx, vulva, vagina, penis, and anus. HPV vaccination rates are low in many states having large medically underserved areas. In such areas, school nurses are a potential partner for improving population health, but their perceptions about HPV, HPV vaccination, and their role in promoting HPV vaccination have not been well documented. METHODS: We administered a cross-sectional survey to 61 of 74 lead school nurses at their 2019 annual training session in South Carolina. Survey questions assessed le

The Sociodemographic Determinants of Nurse Exportation: An Analysis of the Willingness of Ghanaian Nurses for Overseas Employment.

Nurse exportation, driven by sociodemographic factors, has become a significant trend in many African countries, including Ghana. Factors such as age, gender, marital status, religion, and family responsibilities influence nurses' willingness to migrate for better economic and professional opportunities. This study explores the sociodemographic dimensions shaping nurse exportation in Ghana, employing a mixed-methods approach with a sequential explanatory research design. A cross-sectional survey of 483 nursing students and interviews with seven nurses provided insight into migration patterns.

Association of sleep and fatigue with decision regret among critical care nurses.

BACKGROUND: The effects of inadequate sleep on clinical decisions may be important for patients in critical care units, who are often more vulnerable than patients in other units. Fatigued nurses are more likely than well-rested nurses to make faulty decisions that lead to decision regret, a negative cognitive emotion that occurs when the actual outcome differs from the desired or expected outcome. OBJECTIVES: To examine the association between selected sleep variables, impairment due to fatigue, and clinical-decision self-efficacy and regret among critical care nurses. Decision regret was th

Mental Health of Nursing Students amid Coronavirus Disease 2019 Pandemic.

The coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic is a global disaster, and recent studies have shown its association with increasing mental health problems such as post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), depression, anxiety, and stress. Of note, the psychological influences of COVID-19 on nursing students remained unclear. The aim of this study was to evaluate the mental health of nursing student
