PANDA: Development and evaluation of a nursing competence team of respiratory therapists and advanced practice nurses to optimize the weaning process : Protocol of a two-phase feasibility study.

BACKGROUND: Weaning critically ill patients from mechanical ventilation (MV) is an important challenge of intensive care unit (ICU) management. Internationally, MV is often supported by respiratory therapists (RT) as specially trained nurses and advanced practice nurses (APN) with a master's degree, all functioning within an interdisciplinary treatment team. Currently, there is limited research focusing on the process and effectiveness of collaboration between RT and APN as a nursing competence team (NCT) in the context of the weaning process in MV. Process evaluation of specialist nurse implementation of a soft opt-out organ donation system in Wales.

BACKGROUND: Wales introduced a soft opt-out organ donation system on 1st December 2015 with the aim of improving consent rates. In the first 18 months consent rates improved but the difference could not solely be attributed to the soft opt-out system when compared with similar improvements in consent rates in other UK nations. METHODS: We conducted an 18 month post-intervention qualitative process evaluation involving 88 family members of 60/211 potential organ donor cases, and 19 professionals. Views and experiences of Specialist Nurses in Organ Donation who implemented the new system and fa

[Shaping the interaction between nurses and patients in the rehabilitation process--the example of hospital care for paraplegic persons].

This study analyses the interaction between nurses and paraplegic patients. The way how nurses perceived, interpreted and dealt with important themes for patients during the process of care determines the quality of interaction. Based on these findings we developed a model for interaction in the nursing process that is characterised by its orientation towards a mutual understanding. This model enables nurses to systematise nursing negotiation processes, from identifying problems to determining options for interventions to decision-making.

The impact of whole-process visualization collaborative nursing discussions education on perioperative symptoms and emotional well-being in radical prostatectomy patients.

OBJECTIVE: Prostate cancer is one of the most common malignant neoplasms in elderly males, with radical prostatectomy being the established therapeutic approach for localized disease. Patients undergoing this surgical procedure frequently experience increased negative emotions and symptomatology during the perioperative period, likely due to concerns about the illness and its treatment. The present study aims to investigate the effects of a novel educational approach involving a whole-process visualization and collaborative nursing discussions on perioperative symptoms and emotional well-being

Construction of nursing-sensitive quality indicator system for cardiac rehabilitation of patients undergoing percutaneous coronary intervention based on structure-process-outcome model.

BACKGROUND: Coronary heart disease (CHD) is a cardiovascular disease with high mortality. At present, percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) is considered as the main effective treatment for CHD due to less trauma, shorter course of treatment, and better curative effect. However, PCI alone is not a permanent cure, so cardiac rehabilitation (CR) is needed for a supplement. Nowadays, the evaluation of the nursing-sensitive quality of CR after PCI focuses on the outcomes of patients, lacks a complete evaluation indicator system, and is prone to problems such as nursing management imbalance. A Comparative Study of Data Collection Methods in the Process of Nursing: Detection of Chemotherapy Side Effects Using a Self-Reporting Questionnaire.

Ocular vestibular evoked myogenic potentials (oVEMP) and cervical VEMP (cVEMP) are newer diagnostic methods, which allow an insight into the otolith senses. Our aim was to determine changes in certain parameters of the VEMP wave complex after successfully performed repositioning procedure, as an indicator of the state of recovery in patients with benign paroxysmal positional vertigo (BPPV). This may confirm the theory of otolith returning into the area of otolithic senses. The study included 48 patients with unilateral posterior semicircular canal BPPV. On their first arrival, otoneurological

Reasons influencing the nurses' prioritization process while preventing and managing delirium: findings from a qualitative study.

BACKGROUND: Nurses play an important role in the prevention and management of delirium episodes. However, some studies have reported that not all interventions recommended are applied due to time and resource constraints, resulting in patients receiving less care than required because other patients and/or interventions are prioritised. The concept of prioritization is part of the broader concept of decision-making as the ability to choose between two or more alternatives to ensure patient safety. Understanding the reasons influencing the prioritization process in patients at risk or with deli
