We describe 16 patients who underwent conservative surgical treatment of the ilioinguinal region after transscrotal orchiectomy had demonstrated a non-seminomatous germ cell tumor. Treatment consisted of an en bloc partial scrotectomy and removal of the remaining spermatic cord, usually through 2 incisions. Residual disease was present in 3 patients (19%) but malignant disease has not recurred in any. It is concluded that an inguinal lymphadenectomy is not warranted routinely in such patients.

Gender confirmation surgery is increasingly common in persons with gender dysphoria. We describe changes seen in gonads from individuals seeking male-to-female physical adaptation. We studied 99 orchiectomies from 50 persons. The average age was 33 years (range, 21-63 years). In this report, we describe a simple, safe, and efficacious technique for orchiectomy and scrotal ablation with the use of a carbon dioxide light amplification by stimulated emission of radiation (laser) in sugar gliders (Petaurus breviceps). The study population included nine sugar gliders, ages 2-24 mo, presented for orchiectomy. BACKGROUND: Undescended testis is a relatively common condition in boys. The standard treatment is orchiopexy. In adults, orchiopexy is done only if sufficient length can be mobilized. Otherwise, orchiectomy is ideal as undescended testis predisposes to carcinoma. The incidence of carcinoma increases with age. OBJECTIVES: To compare retrospectively the outcome of testis-sparing surgery (TSS) to radical orchiectomy (RO) in patients with Leydig cell tumor (LCT).
METHODS: Between 1992 and 2008, 16 patients with LCT of the testis were identified. All but 1 tumor could be detected by ultrasonography. Tuberculous peritonitis, though rare, is a serious condition and its diagnosis is challenging due to nonspecific clinical symptoms and imaging findings.
