Safety and efficacy of intralesional polidocanol sclerotherapy in the treatment of plantar warts: a pilot study.

Plantar warts are common skin lesions that continue to represent a therapeutic challenge. They are still resistant to therapy and are highly recurrent, despite the diverse number of treatments available. Therapies targeting vasculature, such as pulsed dye laser, have been used successfully in the treatment of plantar warts. Polidocanol, a detergent sclerosant approved for the sclerotherapy of incompetent and dilated saphenous veins, has also been used as an off-label therapy for a wide range of skin conditions with vascular components such as hemangiomas and pyogenic granuloma. The current, op

Evaluation of the Effects of Polidocanol Injection in the Treatment of Temporomandibular Joint Hypermobility - A Prospective Study.

INTRODUCTION: Sclerosing agents have been used for temporomandibular joint (TMJ) hypermobility since decades, some of which are ethanolamine oleate, and OK-432, sodium psylliate (sylnasol), but there are no studies on the usage of polidocanol - a well-known sclerosing agent which does not have much side effects and is inexpensive. Hence, this study evaluates the effect of polidocanol injection in the treatment of TMJ hypermobility. METHODOLOGY: This was a prospective observational study in which patients with chronic TMJ hypermobility were included. Out of the 44 patients who had symptoms of

Sclerosing polidocanol injections in chronic painful tennis elbow-promising results in a pilot study.

Sclerosing polidocanol injections targeting the area with neovessels (vascularity) have been demonstrated to give promising clinical results in patients with chronic painful Achilles and patellar tendinosis. Recently, we demonstrated vascularity in the extensor origin in patients with chronic painful tennis elbow, but not in controls with pain-free elbows. In this pilot study, 11 patients (four men and seven women, mean age 46 years) with the diagnosis of tennis elbow in altogether 13 elbows, were included. All patients had a long duration of pain symptoms (mean 23 months), and ultrasonography

[CT-guided percutaneous polidocanol injection for giant pulmonary bulla: a report of 5 cases].

The clinical data of five patients with giant pulmonary bullae (GPB) who underwent computed tomography (CT)-guided percutaneous polidocanol injection were retrospectively analysed. Pre-and post-treatment comparisons were performed with respect to the diameter of the pulmonary bullae, arterial blood gas parameters, modified Medical Research Council (mMRC) dyspnoea score, Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease Assessment Test (CAT) score, six-minute walk distance (6MWD), and complications. During a 1- to 12- month follow-up, 3 cases achieved complete bulla closure, and 2 showed stable shrinkage.
