Eating Disorders in Adolescents and Young Adults: A Program Evaluation of a Canadian Eating Disorder Treatment Program.

BACKGROUND: Current treatments for adolescents with eating disorders (ED) show limited effectiveness, emphasizing the need for enhanced therapeutic approaches. Cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) has emerged as a potential alternative. A derivative of this approach, group cognitive behavioral therapy (G-CBT), has been shown to reduce treatment costs and increase treatment accessibility when compared to CBT. This program evaluation aimed to assess the effectiveness of G-CBT in adolescents and young adults diagnosed with anorexia nervosa (AN) or bulimia nervosa (BN) and experiencing comorbid anxi

Evaluation of hospital-acquired conditions reduction program in surgical procedures.

Hospital-Acquired Conditions Reduction Program (HACRP) by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid (CMS) penalizes hospitals in the worst quartile of performance for targeted hospital-acquired conditions (HAC). This study examines its impacts on two targeted conditions: surgical site infection (SSI) for abdominal hysterectomy and colon procedures. This paper used a quasi-experimental method of difference-in-differences (DID) to analyze the National (Nationwide) Inpatient Sample (NIS) from January 2012 to September 2015. The DID models compared changes in the probability of SSI for the targeted and

Evaluation of a three-stage management program for Menière's disease.

A three-stage program for management of Menière's disease, consisting of diuretics, endolymphatic sac surgery, and intratympanal installations of gentamicin was tested in a peripheral county without neurosurgical facilities during 1981-1985. All 106 patients in the program were admitted at least once to the only ENT department of the area. The authors believe that these cases represented the most serious part of a total incidence estimated to be about 6.5 times higher than what the present material represent. When evaluated at the end of the period according to the AAOO 1972 classification , o

Childhood malnutrition care during the Gaza siege: aprospective program evaluation.

BACKGROUND: Childhood malnutrition in the Gaza Strip has escalated to critical levels due to prolonged blockade, conflict-related destruction of food systems, and severe restrictions on humanitarian aid. Despite widespread acute malnutrition, little evidence exists on treatment outcomes or program performance during the period of complete siege. This study evaluates the burden of acute malnutrition and documents the effectiveness of WHO-standard outpatient therapeutic care delivered during the 2024–2025 total blockade in Gaza City. METHODS: A single-group prospective program evaluation was con

Genetics Evaluation Outcomes From an Academic Multidisciplinary Atypical Diabetes Program.

CONTEXT: Rare monogenic conditions that predispose to diabetes can be misdiagnosed due to phenotypic overlap with more common conditions. Misdiagnosis can lead to ineffective, over-, or under-treatment. Specific genetic mechanisms can direct more precise treatment and facilitate clinical trial options. Recognition of characteristics of these conditions is necessary to facilitate high-yield referrals to genetics providers in order to improve diagnosis and treatment. OBJECTIVE: Highlight clinical characteristics and diagnostic outcomes of patients undergoing genetics evaluation through a multid
