In this paper, we consider the domain of executive functions (EFs) and their possible role in developmental psychopathologies. We first consider general theoretical and measurement issues involved in studying EFs and then review studies of EFs in four developmental psychopathologies: attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), conduct disorder (CD), autism, and Tourette syndrome (TS). Our review reveals that EF deficits are consistently found in both ADHD and autism but not in CD (without ADHD) or in TS. The association between sexual disorders and psychological functioning was investigated in this study. Seventy-eight subjects who applied for sex therapy were divided into the following groups: Sexual Desire (SDD) and Erectile Disorder; Orgasm (ORG) and Premature ejaculation (PME) disorders. One hundred patients admitted to a Level I trauma center were interviewed using the Langner 22-item index of psychiatric symptoms to evaluate pre-existing psychological pathology. The medical chart was also examined for any type of note or evidence of psychiatric consultation efforts by the surgical attending staff. There were 74 males and 26 females in the sample, with a mean age of 33 years. Types of injuries included blunt trauma in 71% and penetrating trauma in 29% of the group, respectively.
