Occupational and Environmental Exposures: Trends in Publications, Diseases, and Experimental Models.

INTRODUCTION: Environmental exposures such as silica dust, microplastics, and general dust have significant health impacts. We performed a PubMed-based analysis (2000-2025) of research trends on these exposures, associated diseases, and experimental models. Pulmonary fibrosis was the most studied disease, while animal models and conventional in vitro systems dominated experimental approaches. Organ-on-chip platforms remain scarcely used. The results highlight growing research interest and the need for advanced human-relevant models to study exposure effects on respiratory and systemic health.

A Practical Guide to Translating Scientific Publications Into Aphasia-Friendly Summaries.

PURPOSE: Research in aphasiology is largely not accessible. Almost none of the articles published in the field's rich, over 150-year history are communicated in a way that is understandable to those who could benefit from them the most-individuals with aphasia and their loved ones. In this tutorial, we detail how researchers in any field of aphasiology can create aphasia-friendly research summaries of their scientific publications. This step-by-step guide in eight simple parts covers principles of aphasia-friendly written communication (e.g., use of plain language and supportive icons and imag

Publications on peptic ulcer in Britain, France, Germany and the US.

OBJECTIVE: There are no reasonable explanations for the increases first of gastric, and then of duodenal, ulcers in the second half of the nineteenth century. This paper uses a novel method, a study of the rates of increases in publications on these peptic ulcers over the centuries in four countries, the US and three in Europe. METHODS: Between 1700 and 1919 the Surgeon General's Catalogues listed 2958 publications on gastric ulcer in Britain, France, Germany and the US, and between 1700 and 1929 1132 publicati

A note on the time dependence of pineal gland research publications.

Counts of the number of publication titles containing the search truncation "pinea*" were compiled via Current Contents over the time period 1978-1994. These counts and their time dependence were examined for autocorrelations and frequency spectral components. Such analyses were carried out irrespective of either author, research laboratory, funding, or other factors. Interestingly, the results show the research publication rate in pineal studies to be linked to community history. In particular, the interactions affecting output among community members operate on a few characteristic time scal

Bibliometric Analysis of the 50 Most Cited Publications in Epidermolysis Bullosa.

Epidermolysis bullosa (EB) is a group of inherited skin disorders characterized by extreme skin fragility, leading to recurrent blistering and significant impacts on patients' quality of life. A bibliometric analysis of the 50 most-cited EB articles from the past six decades reveals that the majority of research focuses on understanding EB pathogenesis, with a growing emphasis on therapeutic interventions, particularly gene and cell-based therapies. This study highlights a shift toward clinical trials in recent years, but there is still a need for more global collaboration to address regional
