Biomarkers predicting response to qi-exchange moxibustion in ulcerative colitis: A prospective 2-arm cohort study.

BACKGROUND: Qi-exchange moxibustion (QEM) at the conception vessel 8 (Shenque acupoint) is reported to ameliorate symptoms in ulcerative colitis (UC), yet prospective evidence for its added value to mesalazine (and the biomarkers that may predict response) remain undefined. We explored clinical efficacy and baseline inflammatory biomarkers associated with QEM treatment in mild-to-moderate UC. METHODS: In this investigator-initiated, prospective 2-arm cohort conducted at a single tertiary center (July 2020 to March 2024), 123 adults with mild-to-moderate UC on stable mesalazine (2.0-3.0 g/day)

Analysis of chemical components in herbal formula Qi Bai Granule by UPLC-ESI-Q-TOF-MS.

Qi Bai Granule (QBG), a traditional Chinese medicine formula for the treatment of idiopathic thrombocytopenic purpura, is composed of seven herbs. It is necessary to learn its chemical composition for quality control. In this study, a method for rapid separation and structural identification of the constituents in QBG was established by UPLC-ESI-Q-TOF-MS in negative and positive ion mode. As a result, 112 compounds, such as triterpenoids, flavonoids and monoterpenes were detected. Based on the retention times, accurate masses, fragment ions, related literatures, and/or authentic standards, 107

[Discussion on relevant theories of "Qi-Blood-Shen" and formula implication of Guan-Xin-Jing capsule].

In the field of traditional Chinese medicine(TCM),the definition of "Shen" contains a broad concept and a narrow concept. Broad "Shen" is the dominator and administrator of human vital movement, while narrow "Shen" means spirit, consciousness, thinking and emotions of human. "Shen" originates from innate essence of parents, and survives on acquired essence of water and food as well as the nutrition of its metaplastic Qi-Blood-Body fluid. Qi-Blood,the most precious asset of human body, is a quite important section of one person and the central material basis of "Shen-Zhi". Coronary heart disease

[The theory of unresponsive pulse by Wang Ji : The historical position of his Yun Qi Yi Lan].

Wang Ji (1463-1539) was a well-known doctor of the Xin An Medical School in the Ming Dynasty. He and his representative masterpiece Yun Qi Yi Lan are particularly important in the medical history of Yunqi, which refers to the principles of Air (Qi) regulation, influencing almost all life in nature. In terms of the theory "nonresponsive pulse matching the South and the North in the ten Stem years" (Nan Bei Zheng Bu Ying Mai), Wang Ji differentiated and analysed the changes of this theory after the Jin and Yuan Dynasties and traced it back to the classics the Inner canon of Huangdi (Huang Di Nei

Improvement of inflammatory response and gastrointestinal function in perioperative of cholelithiasis by Modified Xiao-Cheng-Qi decoction.

BACKGROUND: In the perioperative period of biliary surgery, various factors can induce the release of a large number of inflammatory factors, leading to an imbalance in pro-inflammatory and anti-inflammatory responses and resulting in gastrointestinal (GI) dysfunction. Enhanced Recovery After Surgery protocols in biliary surgery have been shown to reduce the stress response and accelerate postoperative recovery. It is crucial to reduce the inflammatory response and promote the recovery of GI function after biliary surgery, both of which are the basis and key for perioperative care and postoper

Complementary Therapies in Parkinson Disease: a Review of Acupuncture, Tai Chi, Qi Gong, Yoga, and Cannabis.

Parkinson disease (PD) is a progressive neurodegenerative condition characterized by bradykinesia, rigidity, resting tremor, and postural instability. Non-motor symptoms, including pain, fatigue, insomnia, anxiety, and depression to name a few, are increasingly recognized and often just as disabling at motor symptoms. The mainstay of treatment is dopamine replacement; however, the beneficial effects tend to wane over time with disease progression, and patients often experience motor fluctuations and medication side effects. The lack of a disease-modifying intervention and the shortcomings of t
