3D radiomics profiling of thyroid tumors using micro-CT.

Tumor heterogeneity plays a central role in treatment resistance, disease progression, and diagnostic uncertainty. However, it may be overlooked by traditional 2D histology. Accurate 3D assessment of tumor microarchitecture is therefore important for capturing its spatial complexity. Micro-CT, a well-established imaging modality now emerging for high-resolution 3D virtual histology of soft tissues, provides a promising alternative. Combined with radiomics, this technique enables interpretable, quantitative characterization of tumor biology beyond visual inspection. In this study, we analyzed r

Radiomics of hepatopancreatobiliary cancer diagnosis, management, and future prospects.

Radiomics allows for quantitative utilisation of radiological data and carries great potential for improving the diagnosis and management of hepatopancreatobiliary (HPB) cancers. Radiomic features represent changes at the mesoscopic scale and serve as noninvasive markers for tumour heterogeneity. Using deep learning and machine learning approaches, retrospective studies have demonstrated that radiomic signatures have the capability to improve the diagnosis of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC), pancreatic cancer, and cholangiocarcinoma, in conjunction with radiological evaluation. Radiomic models

Developments in MRI radiomics research for vascular cognitive impairment.

Vascular cognitive impairment (VCI) is an umbrella term for diseases associated with cognitive decline induced by substantive brain damage following pathological changes in the cerebrovascular system. The primary clinical manifestations include behavioral abnormalities and diminished learning and memory cognitive functions. If the location and extent of brain injury are not identified early and therapeutic interventions are not promptly administered, it may lead to irreversible cognitive impairment. Therefore, the early diagnosis of VCI is crucial for its prevention and treatment. Prior to the

MRI radiomics reveals pain-related biomarkers for modic changes.

BACKGROUND: Modic changes (MC) are vertebral endplate abnormalities detectable on MRI, strongly linked to low back pain (LBP). Identifying imaging features correlated with pain severity may improve diagnosis and guide treatment. This study aims to develop an automated radiomics-based model for classifying MC and investigating its association with LBP severity. METHODS: A total of 304 retrospective and 101 prospective patients with MRI-confirmed MC (January 2020–May 2024) were analyzed. Radiomic features were extracted from T1, T2, and FS sequences using Pyradiomics, yielding 1,906 features. Th

Radiomics of pituitary adenoma using computer vision: a review.

Pituitary adenomas (PA) represent the most common type of sellar neoplasm. Extracting relevant information from radiological images is essential for decision support in addressing various objectives related to PA. Given the critical need for an accurate assessment of the natural progression of PA, computer vision (CV) and artificial intelligence (AI) play a pivotal role in automatically extracting features from radiological images. The field of "Radiomics" involves the extraction of high-dimensional features, often referred to as "Radiomic features," from digital radiological images. This surv

Radiomics on spatial-temporal manifolds via Fokker-Planck dynamics.

BACKGROUND: Delta radiomics is a high-throughput computational technique used to describe quantitative changes in serial, time-series imaging by considering the relative change in radiomic features of images extracted at two distinct time points. Recent work has demonstrated a lack of prognostic signal of radiomic features extracted using this technique. We hypothesize that this lack of signal is due to the fundamental assumptions made when extracting features via delta radiomics, and that other methods should be investigated. PURPOSE: The purpose of this work was to show a proof-of-concept o

Technical Note: Ontology-guided radiomics analysis workflow (O-RAW).

PURPOSE: Radiomics is the process to automate tumor feature extraction from medical images. This has shown potential for quantifying the tumor phenotype and predicting treatment response. The three major challenges of radiomics research and clinical adoption are: (a) lack of standardized methodology for radiomics analyses, (b) lack of a universal lexicon to denote features that are semantically equivalent, and (c) lists of feature values alone do not sufficiently capture the details of feature extraction that might nonetheless strongly affect feature values (e.g. image normalization or interpo

Multimodal radiomics for early prediction of pathological complete response to neoadjuvant chemotherapy in breast cancer: integration of amide proton transfer weighted imaging in radiomics.

BACKGROUND: Early prediction of pathological complete response (pCR) to neoadjuvant chemotherapy (NAC) in breast cancer remains challenging. Traditional imaging lacks molecular sensitivity, while single-modality radiomics may miss tumor microenvironment dynamics. Integrating amide proton transfer-weighted imaging (APTWI)-quantifying protein levels linked to chemo-response-into multimodal radiomics may enable precise early pCR prediction, guiding personalized therapy. This study aims to develop and validate a multimodal radiomics model, integrating amide proton transfer-weighted imaging (APTWI)
