Impact assessment of increasing renewable energy penetration on voltage instability tendencies of power system buses using a QV-based index.

This paper presents a QV-based approach called Critical Voltage-Reactive Power Ratio (CVQR) index to assess the voltage instability tendencies of power system buses with increase in renewable energy (RE) penetration within the power system. The buses are thus ranked according to the order in which they are impacted by increase in renewable energy penetration. Simulations were performed using DIgSILENT PowerFactory and result analyses were done with MATLAB. The developed CVQR index has been employed to assess the effect of increasing RE generation on grid voltage stability. This index provides

Design of a highly efficient graphene-coated ultra-wideband solar thermal absorber for renewable mining energy applications using artificial intelligence optimization.

Although many technologies have advanced in electricity production, their carbon footprint remains a crucial factor in selecting the most sustainable option. Solar energy provides a promising solution, as it is a clean and renewable resource harnessed directly from the sun. Multi-layer type thermal absorbers are considered the most effective structures, and their efficiency can be further enhanced with the incorporation of advanced materials such as graphene and MXene. In the current study, the solar absorber is fabricated using Cr-Fe₃O₄-InSb materials, with a thin graphene film added to enhan

Examining A(symmetric) relationship of renewable energy, healthcare expenditures, and export with environmental degradation: Evidence from OECD countries by ARDL approaches.

Environmental degradation, closely tied to climate change, remains a pressing global challenge that requires comprehensive and multidimensional analysis. Although numerous studies have independently examined the roles of renewable energy, healthcare expenditures, and trade in environmental outcomes, their joint influence remains underexplored-particularly within OECD countries. This study fills this gap by investigating (a)symmetric effects of renewable energy consumption, healthcare expenditures, and exports on environmental degradation for 37 OECD countries from 2000 through 2020. Using the

Potential interactions between diadromous fishes of U.K. conservation importance and the electromagnetic fields and subsea noise from marine renewable energy developments.

The considerable extent of construction and operation of marine renewable energy developments (MRED) within U.K. and adjacent waters will lead, among other things, to the emission of electromagnetic fields (EMF) and subsea sounds into the marine environment. Migratory fishes that respond to natural environmental cues, such as the Earth's geomagnetic field or underwater sounds, move through the same waters that the MRED occupy, thereby raising the question of whether there are any effects of MRED on migratory fishes. Diadromous species, such as the Salmonidae and Anguillidae, which undertake la

The asymmetric impact of renewable energy consumption on the economic growth of emerging South and East Asian countries: A NARDL approach.

The question of economic development is so essential that specialists, international leaders, and every government are continually working on how to tackle this problem. Renewable energy is a means to save planet's ecology and foster long-term economic viability. This study explores the asymmetric effect of renewable energy consumption (RE) on emerging South and East Asian countries' economic growth by the non-linear autoregressive distributed lag (NARDL) approach. Also, it employs the generalized least square (GLS) method and panel causality test to grasp this impact. The GLS assessment expos

Stochastic multi-objective model for optimal energy exchange optimization of networked microgrids with presence of renewable generation under risk-based strategies.

The inherent volatility and unpredictable nature of renewable generations and load demand pose considerable challenges for energy exchange optimization of microgrids (MG). To address these challenges, this paper proposes a new risk-based multi-objective energy exchange optimization for networked MGs from economic and reliability standpoints under load consumption and renewable power generation uncertainties. In so doing, three various risk-based strategies are distinguished by using conditional value at risk (CVaR) approach. The proposed model is specified as a two-distinct objective function.

A hierarchical optimization approach to maximize hosting capacity for electric vehicles and renewable energy sources through demand response and transmission expansion planning.

Within the scope of sustainable development, integrating electric vehicles (EVs) and renewable energy sources (RESs) into power grids offers a number of benefits. These include reducing greenhouse gas emissions, diversifying energy sources, and promoting the use of green energy. Although the literature on hosting capacity (HC) models has grown, there is still a noticeable gap in the discussion of models that successfully handle transmission expansion planning (TEP), demand response (DR), and HC objectives simultaneously. Combining TEP, DR, and HC objectives in one model optimizes resource use,

Greenhouse gas and air pollutant emission reduction potentials of renewable energy--case studies on photovoltaic and wind power introduction considering interactions among technologies in Taiwan.

To achieve higher energy security and lower emission of greenhouse gases (GHGs) and pollutants, the development of renewable energy has attracted much attention in Taiwan. In addition to its contribution to the enhancement of reliable indigenous resources, the introduction of renewable energy such as photovoltaic (PV) and wind power systems reduces the emission of GHGs and air pollutants by substituting a part of the carbon- and pollutant-intensive power with power generated by methods that are cleaner and less carbon-intensive. To evaluate the reduction potentials, consequential changes in th

Boosting cuckoo optimization algorithm via Gaussian mixture model for optimal power flow problem in a hybrid power system with solar and wind renewable energies.

This paper presents a novel approach, the Gaussian Mixture Method-enhanced Cuckoo Optimization Algorithm (GMMCOA), designed to optimize power flow decision parameters, with a specific focus on minimizing fuel cost, emissions, network loss, and voltage deviation. GMMCOA integrates the strengths of COA and GMM while mitigating their individual limitations. While COA offers robust search capabilities, it suffers from initial parameter dependency and the risk of getting trapped in local optima. Conversely, GMM delivers high-speed performance but requires guidance to identify the best solution. By

A review of 10 × 10 and 20 × 20 grid-type wind turbine placement problems solving by metaheuristics.

Wind energy is the most important renewable energy source produced by wind turbines. The optimal placement of wind turbines is a challenging binary optimization problem. Maximizing production capacity and minimizing the number of turbines (accordingly minimizing the installation cost) are the main objectives. Metaheuristic algorithms can solve binary optimization problems with optimal or near-optimal solutions. In the literature, the wind turbine placement problem (WTPP) is solved by metaheuristic algorithms from 1994 to 2020. In this work, a literature review of solving 10 × 10 and 20 × 20 gr
