Effects of voltage reduction on changes of shear bond strength and fracture mode of resin-modified glass-ionomer cements after current application.

The enhanced bonding performance of dental cements is a clinical challenge, resulting in tooth damage because of excessive adhesion. Consequently, novel smart dental cements capable of on-demand bond strength reduction upon the application of an electrical current (CA) have been developed. Notably, a significant reduction in the shear bond strength (σs) of resin-modified glass-ionomer cements (RMGICs) has been reported after the application of a 19 V CA for 30 s. However, this high voltage can damage the soft tissue and dental pulp. Therefore, we investigated whether comparable debonding perfo

Supercritical CO2-Stable Cementing Materials Based on Vinyl Ester Resin for Maintaining Wellbore Integrity.

Ensuring long-term wellbore integrity is critical for carbon dioxide geological storage. Ordinary Portland cement (PC) is usually used for wellbore primary cementing and plug operation, and set cement is easily corroded by acidic fluids, such as carbon dioxide, in underground high-temperature and high-pressure (HTHP) environments, resulting in a decrease in the mechanical properties and an increase in permeability. In order to achieve long-term wellbore integrity in a CO2-rich environment This study introduces materials such as thermosetting vinyl ester resin (TSR), filler composite resin (FCR

Effect of Different Post-space Pretreatment Agents on the Push-Out Bond Strength of Fibre Posts Cemented With Self-Adhesive Resin Cement: An In Vitro Study.

BACKGROUND: The long-term success of fibre post restorations is multifactorial and depends on several biomechanical and restorative factors, including the ferrule effect, the amount of remaining coronal tooth structure, restoration design, occlusal loading, and the quality of adhesion between the fibre post, resin cement, and radicular dentin. Among these factors, durable adhesive bonding is considered essential for enhancing post retention and the longevity of the restoration. The smear layer created during post-space preparation may compromise this adhesion by limiting resin infiltration. Pr

Effect of universal primers and adhesive systems on bond strength of resin cements with and without 10-MDP to tribochemically silica-coated zirconia.

Although 10-MDP is widely recognized for its ability to enhance zirconia adhesion, commercially available MDP-containing systems differ substantially in formulation chemistry. This study investigated whether different 10-MDP-containing universal agents affect the bond strength of resin cements, with and without 10-MDP, when applied to tribochemically silica-coated zirconia surfaces. Zirconia blocks were randomly assigned to groups corresponding to different cementation protocols. Surface preparation involved tribochemical sandblasting with 30 µm silica-coated aluminum oxide particles for 15 s

Mechanical behavior of bioactive composite cements consisting of resin and glass-ceramic powder in a simulated body fluid: effect of silane coupling agent.

Time-dependent strength behavior was investigated for bisphenol-a-glycidyl methacrylate/triethylene glycol dimethacrylate (Bis-GMA/TEGDMA) resin cements combined with glass-ceramic A-W filler treated with various kinds of silane coupling agents. The fracture strength of the composite resin cements was measured by three-point bending as a function of stressing rate in a simulated body fluid (SBF), and thereby the stress-corrosion susceptibility constant was evaluated. The fracture strength was found to depend on the kind of coupling agent used. For the present Bis-GMA/TEGDMA resin, the silane c
