E-rosette formation by human lymphocytes incubated with sheep red blood cells (sRBC) is inhibited by morphine. We studied the ability of the opiate antagonists naloxone and Tyr-MIF-1 (Tyr-Pro-Leu-Gly-NH2) to block this action. Active E-rosette formation by lymphocytes incubated with morphine was reduced from the control of 35.7 +/- 1.7% to 23.7 +/- 1.5% (p less than 0.001). Similarly, total E-rosette formation was reduced by morphine from the control of 65.8 +/- 1.3% to 53.2 +/- 2.9% (p less than 0.001). Report about three patients suffering from psoriasis vulgaris, who were not responsive to common dermatological treatment for many years. After peritoneal dialysis the psoriasis cleared and has not recurred for three to six months. Immunological investigations before and after peritoneal dialysis showed an increasing number of E-rosettes and a decrease of the concentration of soluble immune complexes of the serum.

A sensitive rosette method combining staphylococcal protein A coated rabbit red blood cells and the monoclonal antibody anti-Tac was used to search for the presence of interleukin 2 (IL-2) receptor-bearing T lymphocytes in tonsils from patients with chronic tonsillitis. Using the method of immune rosette formation and rosette formation with murine erythrocytes, the authors studied the characteristics of blood B lymphocytes in schizophrenics with the continuously progressive course of the disease and the effects of psychotropic therapy on B lymphocyte production. The count of B lymphocytes (both mature and immature) was increased in the patients versus normal subjects. Psychotropic therapy reduced the number of B cells almost to the normal values.

The lymphoma cells from a patient with leukemia lymphoblastic sarcoma (Kiel classification) were observed by scanning and transmission electron microscopy. These cells were also examined by E, EA, EAC rosette-formation tests and by the indirect immunofluorescence technique for surface immunoglobulins. We examined blood lymphocyte subpopulations in 20 patients with sarcoidosis, 37 patients with other diseases, and 51 normal subjects. What motivates animal cells to intercalate is a longstanding question that is fundamental to morphogenesis. A basic mode of cell rearrangement involves dynamic multicellular structures called tetrads and rosettes. Rosettes are a class of higher-order hierarchical supramolecular structures formed through highly precise and controlled molecularly coordinated self-assembly via sequential non-covalent interactions, predominantly directed by hydrogen-bonding networks. Herein, we constructed robust hydrogen-bonded colorimetric hexad rosette supramolecules through the self-assembly of linear barbituric acid-linked diacetylene monomers (PCDA-ABA). The barbituric acid head group, with multiple hydrogen-bond donor and acceptor sites, facilitates sequential packing, forming a cyclic hexameric rosette arrangement.

The results obtained in the study of the influence of histamine on the capacity of T-lymphocytes of guinea pigs immunized with DPT-vaccine and its components for spontaneous rosette formation are presented. Histamine at a concentration of 10(-3) M has been found to inhibit the capacity of blood and splenic lymphocytes of guinea pigs immunized with adsorbed DPT vaccine for spontaneous rosette formation. The inhibitory effect is more pronounced after the immunization of the animals with adsorbed DPT vaccine and Bordetella pertussis suspension.
