The objective of this study was to evaluate the clinical performance of a packable restorative material, after 2 years in stress-bearing posterior cavities, according to the Ryge criteria. At least two Class 2 restorations (occluso-mesial, mesial-occlusal-distal, occlusal-distal) were placed in 46 patients (36.7 +/- 16 years). In each of the restorations (lot 221, metal matrix band system, glass ionomer-cement-base in 53% of the cavities, mostly no rubber dam) an adhesive system was used. Additionally, in each patient a flowable composite was used in one of the two fillings. After 2 years, 70%

AIM: The objective of the present study was to close multiple diastemas. This presents a significant challenge for clinicians, given the esthetic considerations and the need for precise replication of various types of tooth tissue. While direct composite resin layering is a demanding technique, it proves to be a viable approach for reshaping tooth anatomy. This article outlines a sculpting technique designed for anterior composite veneers, emphasizing the importance of marginal ridge reconstruction preceding the enamel buccal increment.
CLINICAL CONSIDERATIONS: This report details the clos-ur

This concise review provides an update of the use of dental sealants. Dental sealants protect a tooth from caries development by providing a physical barrier to microorganism colonisation and creating a favorable environment for patients to clean. Some sealants release fluoride ions to promote remineralization. Dental sealants can be applied on pits and fissures of primary and permanent teeth to prevent and arrest early enamel caries. They are effective in caries prevention. The preventive fraction of resin sealant is up to 61% after 5 years. Dental sealants can be classified as resin, glass i

Two fractured maxillary central incisors were restored via the crown fragment reattachment technique with adhesive systems and composite resin material. A long-term successful outcome was achieved after 4 years of follow-up. The patient presented with fractured maxillary central incisors, and a comprehensive intraoral and radiographic examination revealed that both teeth had extended crown fractures with no pulpal exposure (Class II, Ellis and Davey). The tooth fragments were thoroughly cleaned and inspected before being repositioned. Both fragments were in excellent condition with almost no p

BACKGROUND: Direct composite veneers for multiple anterior diastemas still present a challenge for a predictable palatal contour and controlled interproximal emergence profiles for interproximal emergence. Conventional matrices are not positionally stable and do not allow for morphological control, thereby leading to a technique-dependent procedure with the risk of inter-tooth asymmetry.
PURPOSE: To present a dual matrix technique using liquid dam stabilization and a pull-through interproximal contouring while placing direct composite veneers in multiple anterior diastemas.
TECHNIQUE AND CAS

Resin composite veneers are widely used for esthetic rehabilitation of anterior teeth, offering a minimally invasive approach to restore tooth form and harmony. In indirect techniques, a digital diagnostic wax-up can define the final morphology; however, its accurate transfer to the clinical setting remains challenging and operator-dependent, potentially compromising restoration adaptation and introducing variability at the adhesive interface. This study describes a novel 3D-printed dual matrix system designed to improve the accuracy and reproducibility of the digital wax-up transfer. In the p

A 4.5-year-old female child presented to the Department of Pediatric Dentistry with the chief complaints of sharp, localized pain in her lower left and right back teeth persisting for a week, indicative of irreversible pulpitis in teeth 74, 75, and 85. A single-visit pulpectomy was planned for all affected teeth, followed by full coronal restoration in two separate visits. Before the procedure, informed digital consent was taken from the parents. A topical anesthetic agent and inferior alveolar nerve block were administered for effective anesthesia. Rubber dam isolation was performed to ensure

Vital pulp therapy, including direct pulp capping and partial and full pulpotomy, is primarily indicated for immature or mature permanent teeth with reversible pulpitis. Mature permanent teeth with irreversible pulpitis are frequently treated with root canal therapy. This report presents two cases of full pulpotomy using BiodentineTM in mature permanent teeth with irreversible pulpitis and acute apical periodontitis. The periapical radiograph illustrated a deep carious lesion extended to the pulp with apical radiolucency lesion or widened periodontal ligament space. Full pulpotomy with a trica

At the present time, evidence-based, best practices have yet to be established for maintaining the vitality of teeth by managing caries-associated pulp exposure in permanent teeth. In terms of biomechanical and esthetic considerations, pulp capping has proven to be more effective than root-canal therapy. Given the low success rate of conventional methods, new techniques, such as laser-assisted repairs, should be developed. The purpose of this study was to compare the effectiveness of conventional and diode laser-assisted methods in direct pulp capping of carious teeth. Ten patients ranging in

The purpose of this study was to evaluate tricalcium phosphate (TCP) as a pulp-capping agent. Two adult male beagle dogs were used for this investigation. Class I cavities were prepared in the posterior teeth and Class V cavities in the anterior teeth. With the use of a rubber dam and high speed with water coolant, minimal pulp exposures were created in both the experimental and control teeth, by means of a 1/2 round bur. Zinc oxide-eugenol was the temporary filling material used to restore all cavities. In each dog, five teeth served as control and were capped with the use of calcium hydroxid

VPT is vital pulp therapy, a biologically based procedure that combines several therapeutic techniques to maintain the entire or a portion of the dental pulp. Interest in VPT has grown due to recent developments in bioactive materials and an understanding of biological pulp reparative responses. This case report is aimed at evaluating the success rate of partial pulpotomy in permanent molars with symptoms indicating irreversible pulpitis using MTA and presenting with extremely deep carious lesions over four years of follow-up. All patients came with spontaneous and severe pain. Each tooth was

Iatrogenic perforations negatively impact the outcome of endodontic treatments. Studies on prognostic factors showed that perforations in the coronal third of the root with periodontal pocket formation have an unfavorable prognosis. A 36-year-old female was referred for endodontic evaluation of tooth #13 with a history of an iatrogenic perforation, happened 3 years ago. There was a sinus tract associated with perforation, 10 mm probing on the mesial and mesio-palatal, bleeding on probing, radiolucent lesion adjacent to the perforation and complete resorption of the interdental bone between tee

INTRODUCTION: More than 41,000 root canal treatments (RCTs) are performed every day and about 25 RCTs are performed every week by an endodontist. The success rate of endodontic treatment ranges between 86% and 98%; however, the failure rates cannot be ignored which can range up to 20% of the treated cases due to a varied number of reasons including incorrect adoption of working techniques and usage of inappropriate materials. The present study aimed at comparing the practices of various levels of dentists toward RCT in their daily practice.
METHODOLOGY: A cross-sectional, descriptive, questio
