An alveolar soft part sarcoma localised in the pituitary gland extended into the suprasellar region. Three years after surgical removal there was a recurrency in the occipital horn of the right cerebral ventricle. This type of tumour predominantly occurs in the limbs and has never been reported in the pituitary region.

This is a clinicopathologic study of 17 cases of alveolar soft-part sarcoma of the orbit. The mean age of patients was 23 and the median was 18 (range, 11 months to 69 years); 13 patients (76.5 per cent) were women and four were men (ratio, 3.25:1). The right and left orbits were equally involved (eight patients each), and in one the laterality was not specified. Histologically, the tumors had a distinctive organoid pattern outlined by thin-walled capillaries and were composed of nests of large polyhedral cells with abundant, finely granular, acidophilic cytoplasm. Approximately two thirds of

BACKGROUND Alveolar soft-part sarcoma is an uncommon mesenchymal tumor accounting for approximately 0.7% of soft tissue sarcomas in adults. It mainly affects young adults, with a peak incidence between 15 and 35 years old. Available data indicate that surgical resection with adjuvant therapy using tyrosine kinase inhibitor may be considered the standard treatment. The rarity of the disease and resultant data scarcity makes it difficult to establish treatment guidelines. CASE REPORT We present the 9-year follow-up of a 24-year-old patient with an initially advanced (stage IV), huge, 21-cm alveo

RATIONALE: Alveolar soft part sarcoma (ASPS) is a rare soft tissue sarcoma harboring an ASPL-TFE3 fusion gene. Herein, we report a case of ASPS associated with brain metastasis. Immunohistochemistry (IHC) for TFE3 antigen expression and fluorescence in situ hybridization (FISH) for TFE3 rearrangement were performed to arrive at an accurate diagnosis.
PATIENT CONCERNS: A 47-year-old man was hospitalized for a headache and numbness of the lower limbs.
DIAGNOSES: Preoperative computed tomography and magnetic resonance imaging revealed 2 brain masses, 1 each in the right parietal and temporal bo

We have presented a case of typical alveolar soft part sarcoma probably originating from the soft tissues of the retroperitoneum with metastasis to the brain. An ultrastructural study including histochemical observation of the metastatic lesion was performed to clarify the nature of the crystals characteristic to the tumor cells of this disease. The crystalline structures have acid phosphatase activity at a histological and ultrastructural level. Our results suggested that they might be derived from coalescence of primary lysosomes or by digestive disintegration of some protein.

BACKGROUND: Alveolar soft part sarcoma (ASPS) is an ultra-rare sarcoma with limited chemotherapy sensitivity affecting mostly young patients. Tyrosine kinase inhibitors (TKIs) and immunotherapy are therapeutic advances with promising results in this disease. The aim of this study was to describe the characteristics, management and survival of patients with ASPS in France.
PATIENTS AND METHODS: The French NETSARC+ database was screened for all adult patients with ASPS managed in French sarcoma centers between 2010 and 2023.
RESULTS: Sixty-four patients from 18 centers were analyzed. The 5-yea

PURPOSE: Alveolar soft-part sarcoma (ASPS) and clear cell sarcoma (CCS) are rare mesenchymal malignancies driven by chromosomal translocations that activate members of the microphthalmia transcription factor (MITF) family. However, in contrast to malignant melanoma, little is known about their immunogenicity. To learn more about the host response to ASPS and CCS, we conducted a phase I clinical trial of vaccination with irradiated, autologous sarcoma cells engineered by adenoviral-mediated gene transfer to secrete granulocyte-macrophage colony-stimulating factor (GM-CSF).

Alveolar soft part sarcoma (ASPS) is a rare soft tissue tumor. Primary or metastatic involvement of the spine is unusual in ASPS. In most case, it is refractory to chemotherapy and radiation. Surgical resection is the most effective intervention. We report the case of a 38-year-old female having ASPS along with metastatic spine and hip involvement treated surgically as a single-stage operation, which is the first of its kind approach to our knowledge. We present the case of a 38-year-old female with simultaneous L4 pathological fracture with symptomatic lumbar canal stenosis without focal neur

PURPOSE: Alveolar soft part sarcoma is a rare soft tissue neoplasm that can affect children and adolescents. There are few reported series of these patients in the literature. To define the clinical presentation, treatment, and outcome of young people with this rare sarcoma, we reviewed our clinical experience.
METHODS: After institutional review board approval, we examined the records of all patients younger than 25 years old who received treatment at our institution for alveolar soft part sarcoma in the past 30 years. Demographics, tumor sizes, sites and extent of disease, treatments used,

Background. Metastasis of alveolar soft part sarcoma (ASPS) to the adrenal gland is infrequent, with only eight patients reported in the literature. Here we present an ASPS in an adolescent girl presented as a hypervascular adrenal incidentaloma along with a review of the available literature. This study aims to serve as a reference to aid in the pre-operative radiological and histopathological diagnosis of this rare entity. Case presentation. A 17-year-old adolescent girl presented to the Department of Urology after the detection of a hypervascular left adrenal incidentaloma on follow-up PET-

A 20-year-old male patient presented with a recent history of two episodes of seizures and Glasgow Coma Scale of E3V3M6. He was drowsy at presentation with bradycardia. On further examination, he was found to be having a 10 × 6cm well-circumscribed mass in the right medial thigh whose fine needle aspiration cytology was suggestive of soft tissue sarcoma. Contrast-enhanced magnetic resonance imaging brain showed enhancing lobulated lesions in bilateral hemispheres with significant edema. A decision to decompress the intracranial space occupying lesion was taken. Left-sided larger brain lesions

We report a case of alveolar soft part sarcoma (ASPS) in a 68-year-old woman's uterine cervix. Macroscopic observation revealed an unencapsulated lesion confined to the cervical stroma, measuring 10 mm in diameter. Microscopic examination showed large, round or polygonal tumor cells, arranging in a well-defined nests pattern with scanty vascular stroma. Immunohistochemistry was performed. Tumor cells showed positivity for Ki-67 (2%), TFE-3, CD68, and myoD1 (cytoplasm) , while negative for HNF1β, CD10, RCC, PAX-8, CK7, CK18, CK8, CR, EMA, HMB-45, S-100, CgA, and Syn. Alveolar soft part sarcoma (ASPS) constitutes a rare soft tissue malignant neoplasm comprising less than 1 % of all soft tissue sarcomas. ASPS demonstrates a strong predilection for adolescents and young adults, with a female predominance reported. The head and neck region is the most commonly affected region in pediatric patients with the tongue and orbit affected most commonly. Herein we present the clinical, radiographic, histopathologic, immunohistochemical and molecular features of two examples of ASPS affecting the oral cavity of 4 and 13 year-old boys, along with a focused review of the

Nine alveolar soft-part sarcomas of the female genital tract (four previously reported) occurred in patients 14-38 (mean 29) years of age. The most common clinical presentation was abnormal uterine bleeding. Two tumors were located in the vagina, three in the cervix or lower uterine segment, three in the uterine corpus, and one in the broad ligament. The tumors were solid and well circumscribed, ranging in maximum dimension from 1 to 9.8 (average 3.6) cm and had the characteristic histologic features of alveolar soft-part sarcoma. Granules that were diastase resistant and positive by periodic

RATIONALE: Primary pulmonary alveolar soft part sarcoma (ASPS) is an extremely rare disease characterized by a specific genetic abnormality - the ASPSCR1-TFE3 gene fusion.
PATIENT CONCERNS: This study presented a 27-year-old male patient who experienced persistent chest tightness for over 6 months.
DIAGNOSES: The computed tomography (CT) scan and enhanced CT scan revealed a mass in the medial segment of the right middle lobe of his lung. The patients then underwent further diagnosis. Pathological examination showed the tumor to be consisting of polygonal cells with abundant eosinophilic or t

Alveolar soft part sarcoma (ASPS) is an extremely rare type of soft tissue sarcoma. The primary sites of ASPS are mostly located in the extremities and trunk. Primary pulmonary ASPS is extremely rare. A search of the PubMed® database identified only five cases of primary pulmonary ASPS. This current case report describes the sixth case of ASPS in a 15-year-old male that presented with recurrent headaches. Head computed tomography showed space-occupying lesions in the left parietal lobe. Positron emission tomography-computed tomography confirmed the space-occupying lesions in the left parietal

Alveolar soft part sarcoma (ASPS) is a rare soft tissue sarcoma, often occurs in adolescents and young adults with a particular predilection for the deep soft tissue of extremities. Occurrence of ASPS in the female genital tract is very uncommon and poses a significant diagnostic challenge. A case of ASPS of the uterine corpus is described in a young unmarried female, who presented to the out-patient clinic of our Institute with complaints of abnormal uterine bleeding for the past 9 mo. She was being treated with oral contraceptive pills, progesterone and tranexamic acid. Following radiologica

The purpose of this paper is to serve as a reference to aid in the management of this poorly understood intracranial malignancy. The authors report their experience treating the eighth ostensible case of a primary intracranial alveolar soft part sarcoma (ASPS). A 21-year-old man presented to hospital after collapsing. He gave a 1-year history of headache, a 2-month history of reduced visual acuity and on examination had left facial paraesthesia with left-sided incoordination. MRI of the brain revealed a large left posterior fossa mass. The patient underwent resection of the tumour with good re
