Synovial sarcoma leads to pathological changes in multiple organs. To investigate the mechanism by which synovial sarcoma induces fatty liver through extracellular vesicles (EVs), the synovial sarcoma SW-982 cells were orthotopically implanted, or SW-982 derived EVs were extracted and used to "educate" nude mice. Liver tissues were then subjected to H&E and Oil-Red O (ORO) staining, and qPCR analysis. EVs were characterized using TEM and Nanosight. The bio-distribution of EVs in vivo was verified using the fluorescent dye Burgundy staining, followed by Odyssey imaging. Immunofluorescence (IF)

Synovial sarcoma is a rare soft tissue malignancy that is most commonly found in the extremities of adolescents and young adults. Despite accounting for a small percentage of all soft tissue sarcomas, its aggressive behaviour makes early recognition and management crucial. We present the rare case of a 64-year-old man with a large epigastric mass extending into the mediastinum and involving the pericardium, which was found to be a synovial sarcoma arising from the falciform ligament. The tumour was locally invading the liver and anterior mediastinum and was associated with pulmonary metastases

An early adolescent girl presented with chronic deforming monoarthritis. Initially misdiagnosed with skeletal tuberculosis, she received empirical treatment despite the absence of microbiological evidence. Her symptoms were managed intermittently with non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, but the persistence and progression of her condition over the past 4 months raised suspicions of juvenile idiopathic arthritis. Her clinical presentation deteriorated, with severe knee arthritis and rapid calf swelling, prompting differential diagnosis including necrotising fasciitis or a ruptured Baker's cy

We report a case of 15-year-old boy with intrathoracic synovial sarcoma who relapsed after standard chemotherapy, surgery and radiotherapy. The molecular analysis of the tumour identified a BRAF V600E mutation at time of progression of relapsed disease under third line systemic treatment. This mutation is commonly seen in melanomas and papillary thyroid cancers, but less prevalent (typically <5%) across a variety of other cancer types. The patient underwent selective BRAF inhibitor Vemurafenib treatment achieving partial response (PR) with a progression free survival (PFS) ratio of 1.6 months

BACKGROUND: Synovial sarcoma, a rare mesenchymal tumor type with unclear histological origin and direction of differentiation, accounts for 6%-10% of soft tissue tumors. It is mainly located near the joints and tendons of the limbs, and occurs primarily in children or young adults. Primary renal synovial sarcoma (PRSS) is very rare, accounting for approximately 1% of synovial sarcomas. It is a spindle cell tumor type affecting mesenchymal tissue, and has morphological, genetic, and clinical characteristics, and a certain degree of epithelial differentiation. It is highly malignant and has the

Synovial cell sarcoma is a soft tissue tumor that occurs predominately in the lower limbs near the joints. Lesions of the head and neck are extremely rare. The larynx is the least frequent site with only about 20 cases reported in the literature. Treatment of these tumors is controversial and should follow the guidelines for other tumor sites. We report the case of a 37-year-old man with primary laryngeal synovial cell sarcoma, who was surgically managed by a narrow field laryngectomy.

Introduction. Synovial sarcomas (SS) are aggressive malignant soft tissue tumours that are thought to arise from pluripotent mesenchymal cells. Clinical Report. A 20-year-old male presented with an acute onset of respiratory stridor. Computer tomography scanning confirmed a mass arising from the left supraglottic larynx and an emergency tracheostomy was performed. A diagnosis of biphasic synovial sarcoma was formed. A total laryngectomy and left hemithyroidectomy was performed in conjunction with a left modified radical neck dissection. The patient received adjuvant chemotherapy followed by a

Synovial sarcoma represents 5.6%-10% of all soft-tissue sarcomas. Adolescents and young adults are most frequently affected, mainly in the deep soft tissue of the extremities. Only 10% of synovial sarcomas affect the head and neck region; most of these are biphasic. We describe a case of an 18-year-old man who complained of a mass in the right submandibular region that had been present for approximately 12 months. On surgical removal, microscopic analysis showed a tumor formed by sheets of malignant spindle cells involving the submandibular gland. Immunohistochemistry displayed positivity for

We present a very rare case of spontaneous intracranial synovial sarcoma. A 15-year-old female was admitted to our institution for a cervical spine MRI, reporting a gradual pain of the dorsal neck after an injury three months previously. After obtaining the first sequence we discovered a large skull base mass. We immediately performed a skull base MRI. MR arteriography, MR venography, CT and DSA were also performed. A large space-occupying lesion was demonstrated, extending from the right petrous bone to the occipital bone at the level of the foramen magnum and the right atlantooccipital junct

AIMS: To evaluate a series of synovial sarcomas arising in the abdomen, pelvic cavity, or retroperitoneum. Synovial sarcoma is rare within the abdomen. In this location, it can be confused with other biphasic tumours and with other spindle and round cell sarcomas.
METHODS AND RESULTS: Cases were retrieved from archives. There were 11 intra-abdominal tumours among 300 synovial sarcomas in two referral practices (3.7%). Three were pelvic (two midline, one sidewall) and eight were retroperitoneal. They occurred in six males and five females aged from 25 to 75 years (mean 49 years, median 46 year

INTRODUCTION: Soft-tissue sarcomas account for 1% of all malignancies in adults. Typical symptoms comprise a growing and painless mass. Occasionally, the diagnosis is facilitated by secondaries.
MATERIALS AND METHODS: Here we report the first case presented with intracranial hemorrhage caused by a metastasis of a previously unknown synovial sarcoma. The 74-year-old female patient was under anticoagulation for recurrent thrombosis of the right popliteal vein due to compression by the sarcoma, misdiagnosed as Baker's cyst. The brain metastasis was resected, and after an incisional biopsy of the

A case of a 36-yr-old woman with retroperitoneal synovial sarcoma is described. Her presenting symptom was epigastric pain that radiating to the back. On radiologic study, bulky retropancreatic soft tissue mass was detected which showed cystic and solid components. At operation, complete resection of the tumor was not possible because of the adhesion to the vena cava and the liver. During the follow-up, extensive tumor recurrence and liver metastasis were revealed. Primary retroperitoneal synovial sarcoma is a very rare malignant tumor with high mortality and recurrence rates. Retroperitoneal

Focal myxoid change is a well-recognized feature of synovial sarcoma, but the presence of a predominantly myxoid stroma is rare. We describe seven cases of myxoid synovial sarcoma in which marked myxoid change initially obscured the diagnosis, leading to confusion (principally with malignant peripheral nerve sheath tumor). The median age (20 yr) and tumor location (four lower extremity, two upper extremity, and one head and neck region) were similar to those found in typical synovial sarcoma. Histologically, five cases were monophasic spindle cell lesions with a lacy appearance in areas with a

BACKGROUND: Canine joint sarcomas, designated synovial sarcomas, are uncommon malignant mesenchymal neoplasms that occur in the large joints of the extremities of middle-aged, large-breed dogs. We report the diagnosis of an intrathoracic sarcoma with ultrastructural characteristics reminiscent of human synovial sarcoma in a dog.
CASE PRESENTATION: A 7-year-old female spayed Tibetan terrier crossbred dog was presented for acute severe labored breathing and diagnosed with an intrathoracic neoplastic mass. The neoplasm resulted in the accumulation of substantial amounts of viscous pleural fluid

We report a case of synovial sarcoma (SS) showing unusual histology at distant sites. A 47-year-old man was aware of a tumor on the sole of his left foot. After preoperative chemotherapy with a diagnosis of SS, wide excision was performed. During postoperative chemotherapy, multiple tumorous lesions developed in the bone (including the whole spine) and both lungs. The patient died 1 year later. Histologically, the excised tumor of the foot showed a biphasic cellular pattern typical of SS, whereas at autopsy the bone and lung lesions were composed only of undifferentiated small round cells with

BACKGROUND: Primary pulmonary artery synovial sarcoma (PPASS) is an extremely rare cardiac malignancy, often misdiagnosed preoperatively due to its nonspecific clinical and imaging features. This case report aims to enhance diagnostic recognition of this rare entity.
CASE DESCRIPTION: A 35-year-old male presented with chest pain after activity for 1 month. Physical examination revealed stable vital signs and no significant cardiac murmurs. Laboratory tests showed negative immunofixation electrophoresis, unremarkable urinary light chains and coagulation function, and an N-terminal pro-B-type n

BACKGROUND: Synovial sarcoma (SS) is a rare, aggressive malignant neoplasm with a high rate of metastasis despite its indolent nature. A distinct SS18::SSX fusion oncogene characterizes SS. The monophasic subtype is the most common and consists of spindle cells. Due to its rarity and subtle clinical presentation, SS can be challenging to identify, leading to misdiagnosis or delays in treatment. The present case highlights the importance of awareness and vigilance among healthcare providers when encountering slow-growing, seemingly benign soft-tissue tumors.
CASE PRESENTATION: A 43-year-old Ha
