PURPOSE: To describe a rare case of corneal injury by trichomes of bamboo shoots.
METHODS: A 58-year-old woman rubbed her right eye after touching a bamboo shoot, not knowing that there were many trichomes adherent to her hands. Severe conjunctival congestion and chemosis developed immediately but subsided the next day without visual impairment. Many trichomes were incidentally found to be embedded in the subepithelial region of the cornea on a routine slit-lamp examination. Three days after partial removal of the trichomes under a microscope, the epithelium had healed completely.

The purpose of this study was to fabricate a chitosan modified magnetic bamboo biochar (CMBB) for Cr(VI) detoxification from aqueous solution. Results showed that chitosan modification provided more active adsorption sites on the surface of magnetic bamboo biochar (MBB), and hence enhanced Cr(VI) removal from aqueous solution. The present study investigated the effects of fermented bamboo powder (FPB) on gut odorant receptors (OR), intestinal health, and growth performance of dwarf yellow-feathered broiler chickens. Six hundred (600) healthy 1-day-old chicks were randomly assigned into 2 groups, with 10 replicates consisting of 30 chicks each. The control group was fed a basal diet. Albendazole was used to treat 30 patients with Strongyloides stercoralis infections.
