Injuries to the extremities from stingray barbs are not uncommon along the Australian seaboard. Cardiac injuries from stingray barbs are rare, even worldwide, and all but one have been fatal. We report a survivor of a cardiac injury caused by a stingray barb. Penetration of a body cavity by a stingray barb requires early surgical referral and management.

BACKGROUND: Evidence has demonstrated a high proportion of Ebola virus disease (EVD) survivors experienced stigma due to the disease. This study sought to understand the longer-term effects of stigma encountered by survivors of the 2014-2016 EVD epidemic living in Sierra Leone.

Since the first outbreak of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) occurred in December 2019, more than 51 million cases had been reported globally. We aimed to identify the risk factors for in-hospital fatal outcome and severe pneumonia of this disease.
