BACKGROUND: While no gold standard exists for the management of Achilles tendon ruptures, surgical repair is common in healthy and active patients. Minimally invasive repair methods have become increasingly popular, while biomechanical equivalency hasn't been proven yet.
METHODS: A mid-substance Achilles tendon rupture was created 6 cm proximal to the calcaneal insertion in 27 fresh-frozen cadaveric ankles. BACKGROUND: Meniscal repair is the gold standard for simple morphology tears. However, when the morphology and chronicity of the tear are less favorable, the success of the standard techniques is reduced.
PURPOSE/HYPOTHESIS: To compare meniscal repair augmented by a new bioresorbable implant (Meniscus Cap) versus a traditional simple suture technique and the currently available augmented repair collagen matrix meniscus wrapping technique.
