Chondroid syringoma, previously called mixed tumor of the skin is a fairly uncommon type of sweat gland tumor, most often diagnosed in the sixth and seventh decade of life. It presents as a well encapsulated dermal or subcutaneous module and it is most frequently found in the skin of the head and neck. The neoplasm is asymptomatic and is featured by a slow rate of growth. At histopathological examination, the tumor consists of an epithelial component, with glandular or ductal differentiation, either eccrine or apocrine, and a stromal component with myxoid or chondroid elements. Surgical remova

Eccrine porocarcinoma is a rare cutaneous neoplasm, and rarer still in the anogenital region. In the vulva, the most common carcinoma by far is squamous cell carcinoma; however, eccrine porocarcinoma can arise at this site. As the distinction between porocarcinoma and squamous cell carcinoma has important prognostic implications at other cutaneous sites, it stands to reason that it may have these same implications in the vulva. We present a case of an eccrine porocarcinoma in the vulva of a 70-year-old woman that, in addition, showed sarcomatoid transformation. This tumor harbored human papill

Eccrine nevus (EN) is a very rare hamartoma of the skin and with varying clinical manifestations. Histologically, these neoplasms present as a proliferation of normally structured eccrine sweat glands in the dermis. There have been no more than 20 cases previously have been reported in the English literature. Herein we report a 25-year-old man with eccrine nevus on the neck. To our best knowledge, this is the first case that the lesion affecting the neck.

Myoepitheliomas (MEs) are extremely rare benign neoplasms composed of ectodermally derived contractile smooth muscle cells (myoepithelial cells). Various tissues such as the salivary glands, breast, larynx, and sweat glands show the presence of these myoepithelial cells. They occur, principally, in the parotid gland and infrequently in minor salivary glands. The term "Myoepitheliomas" was first coined by Sheldon in 1943. It is an uncommon salivary gland tumor which accounts for < 1% of all major and minor salivary gland tumors. Batasakis considers the ME to be "one-sided" variant at the opposi

Eccrine spiradenoma is a rare, benign, adnexal skin tumor of the sweat gland, which may manifest in any part of the body. It is typically located in the dermal or the subcutaneous fat layer. Eccrine spiradenomas rarely progress to malignant transformation and only a few cases of malignant transformation have been reported. Due to its rarity, there have been few reports about the sonographic appearances of eccrine spiradenoma. We report the sonographic findings in one case of eccrine spiradenoma, located in the subcutaneous fat and the deep dermal layers of the upper arm in a middle-aged woman.

Approximately half of adenocarcinomas that involve the vulva are secondary, either through direct extension or metastases from elsewhere. Primary vulvar adenocarcinomas are rare and encompass a diverse array of neoplasms that are nominally classified based on the presumed tissue or organ of origin, the tumoral phenotype, or both. In this review, we summarize the clinicopathologic features of adenocarcinomas that originate from the vulva and related structures, including the terminal urethra. Adenocarcinomas of this region encompass lesions that are defined by their primary site (such as adenoc

Eccrine porocarcinoma is a rare neoplasm that originates from the intraepidermal ductal portion of the eccrine sweat gland, and it usually occurs on the pre-existing lesion of benign eccine poroma. Its occurrence is more common in females and elderly persons. We present a case of a 44-year-old man who suffered from eccrine porocarcinoma, which developed on the right scrotum and pelvic area with metastases to the lung, adrenal gland, esophagus, ureter, and distant lymph nodes. Here we report on a unique case of eccrine porocarcinoma that developed primarily on the scrotum, which is an uncommon

Eccrine poromas are small adnexal neoplasms that arise from the lumen of sweat glands. These lesions are typically small and can mimic other skin conditions, complicating their differentiation during physical examination. We present a case involving a 70-year-old Caucasian man who presented with an unusual mass on his left hand that had considerably increased in size. Initially, a diagnosis of a ganglion was considered; however, subsequent surgical removal and histopathological examination confirmed the diagnosis of poroma. Notably, cholesterol crystals were also found in the mass, a finding t

Endocrine mucin-producing sweat gland carcinoma (EMPSGC) is an adnexal neoplasm which typically occurs on periorbital skin and demonstrates overlapping histopathologic features with primary mucinous carcinoma of the skin (MCS). Herein, we report a patient who developed five distinct lesions of EMPSGC and MCS over an eight-year period, some of which occurred on periorbital sites and others which occurred on the lower face. We further sought to better characterize these tumors on a molecular basis; targeted next generation sequencing analysis of two discrete tumors revealed identical missense va

Apocrine hidradenoma is a benign adnexal neoplasm. It has no specific site predilection, and usually affects middle-aged people. The same as other tumors of the sweat glands, there is a pigmented variety. We present the case of a 92-year-old male who consulted his physician for a slow-growing asymptomatic lesion in the right groin which had been developing for 2 years. After the histopathological study, the diagnosis was established as pigmented apocrine hidradenoma.

We report a patient with a large apocrine hidrocystoma. These tumors are almost always under 10 mm in diameter. In this 40-year-old man the tumor measured 20 mm. Apocrine hidrocystoma must be considered when evaluating a patient with a large cystic lesion of the face. Surgical management is similar to that of other benign cystic lesions of this region.

Although basal cell carcinoma (BCC) is a common skin tumor, very rare cases of BCC arising from upper vermilion mucosa of lip have been reported previously. This tumor basically, originates from pillar structures and the involvement of the vermilion lip contrasts this concept so it is devoid of hair follicles and sweat glands. The exact pathogenesis of vermilion lip BCC is not clear but it has been postulated that the neoplasm originates from the pluripotential epithelial cells of the oral mucosa and epidermis. On the other hand, some authors consider their origin from ectopic sebaceous glands

Sweat gland (SG) neoplasms encompass a wide variety of benign or malignant adnexal skin tumors differentiating into the various segments of SG. Their diagnosis and classification are often difficult, and have relied mainly on histologic and immunohistochemical criteria. Several genomic alterations have been more recently discovered in SG tumors, and have been used as additional diagnostic criteria. Among them, fusions of the MYBL1 or the MYB gene (namely MYB::NFIB or MYBL1::NFIB ) have been detected in a significant proportion of cutaneous and extracutaneous (breast and salivary gland) adenoid

Digital papillary adenocarcinoma is a rare malignant tumor of the sweat glands, most commonly encountered in adult males. Only few pediatric cases have been reported, with an apparent predominance of females and none on the ankle. We report a case of a 15-year-old girl with a slowly growing, non-tender mass on the right ankle presenting with difficulty in walking; clinically believed to be a keloid. Excision of the mass revealed a glandular neoplasm with largely eccrine and focally apocrine differentiation. Histologic features do not reliably predict biologic behavior. Because of the existing

Epidermal and adnexal tumours of the skin constitute a complex and heterogeneous group of neoplasms, with distinct morphology and behaviour. Over recent years, the genetic characterization of such neoplasms has enabled the identification of several new tumour entities. Among such emerging skin tumours, it is noteworthy that the majority harbour phenotypic and molecular similarities with entities already well established in other organs. Notably, over the last decade, several sweat gland tumours analogous to neoplasms of the salivary glands have been reported. More recently, among poorly differ

Hidradenoma papilliferum is derived from apocrine sweat glands and was originally described as a tumor located in the anogenital area. The authors recently examined a 78-year-old man with a hidradenoma papilliferum at the margin of the upper eyelid. While the tumor was located in the dermis, serial sections showed a connection to the epidermis and neoplastic cells partially replacing a gland of Moll. There were glandular structures with luminal cells that showed apical decapitation-type secretion, indicating the apocrine origin of the tumor. The luminal cells also contained granules that stain
