OBJECTIVE: In patients receiving bone marrow transplantation (BMT), their mucosa becomes altered and sclerotic changes in the female external genital organs occur. Although a few studies have specifically addressed vulvar and vaginal graft versus host disease (VVGvHD) and its repercussions on the sexual health and quality of life of patients, VVGvHD can be overlooked by health practitioners. We describe a 28-year-old woman, who continued to receive enzyme replacement therapy during pregnancy and had an uneventful vaginal birth. OBJECTIVE: We evaluated the superiority of vaginal ultrasonography (US) on the abdominal US for the diagnosis of polycystic ovarian disease (PCOD).
DESIGN: The US pattern of ovaries was prospectively investigated by abdominal US and, whenever possible, by vaginal US.
SETTING: Primary care, institutional.
PATIENTS: One hundred forty-four women in whom PCOD was suspected on endocrine grounds and 62 other patients presenting with primary hyperprolactinemia (n = 23) or hypothalamic anovulation (n = 39).
MAIN OUTCOME MEASURE: Vaginal US allowed a better analysis of the ovarian stroma.

100 women, routinely and regularly examined in a venereal disease clinic, have been investigated using Papanicolaou smears of the uterine cervix for. 1. Papanicolaou group, 2. trichomonas infection, 3. assessment of vaginal microbiology. A group III was determined in 11, a group IV/V in 2 women. Trichomonas vaginalis was present in 60% of the cases. Only 9% of the smears showed normal Döderlein bacteria; 91% contained mixed bacteria. A microbiological survey of cervical and vaginal smears associated with a serological survey of sexual diseases was carried out on 298 prostitutes at the four principal Malagasy sea ports. This survey leads us to these conclusions: The great frequency of specific inflammations (72.1%) with Trichomonas vaginalis in the first place (39.2%). Endometriosis remains a challenge to understand and to diagnose.
