Electroentgenographic examination was carried out in 729 patients with various endocrine diseases. It is believed that electroentgenography with consideration to such features as marginal effect, numerous details, volumetric impression, etc. has at its disposal valuable auxillary diagnostic possibilities in the complex examination of the patients. The results of a xeroradiographic study of 50 patients with haemophilia in various stages of severity are reported. In comparison with traditional radiographic examination, the xeroradiographic method seems preferable especially in the early stages of disease, when alterations are limited to the soft tissues and the skeletal structures are intact. The main indications and methods of further research are discussed in this preliminary report.

The clinical examination of residual limb complications is usually subjective and may lead to inappropriate, expensive adjustments or replacement of the prosthesis. Plain films and xeroradiography only provide static images of the residual limb and socket. OBJECTIVE: To characterize, for the first time, periosteal new bone formation in a well-established canine model of accelerated osteoarthritis (OA) with features of neuropathic arthropathy.
METHODS: Seven dogs underwent left L4-S1 dorsal root ganglionectomy (DRG), followed 3 weeks later by transection of the anterior cruciate ligament of the ipsilateral knee (ACLT). Eight weeks thereafter, a postmortem examination was performed to assess the severity of cartilage changes of OA and the formation of new bone on the distal femur and proximal tibia in the cruciate-deficient limb.

De Quervain's disease constitutes the most frequently occurring stenotic tenosynovitis. The authors have studied which imaging technique allows for the best representation of anatomopathologic modifications. Ultrasound examination appeared to be the most appropriate and advantageous method as it reveals involvement of the sheaths and tendons in the simplest, most complete, and least expensive manner.

The case studies of four patients with post-transplantation calcinosis are presented. Three of the four patients died of inanition and sepsis secondary to infection of extensive soft tissue ulcers and diffuse cutaneous vascular calcification with gangrene. This study was to compare the suitability and precision of xerographic and computer-assisted methods for bite mark investigations. Eleven subjects were asked to bite on their forearm and the bite marks were photographically recorded. Alginate impressions of the subjects' dentition were taken and their casts were made using dental stone. The overlays generated by xerographic method were obtained by photocopying the subjects' casts and the incisal edge outlines were then transferred on a transparent sheet. For diagnosis of metastatic bone pathology x-ray and radionuclide studies were combined into one: electroroentgenoscanography. A total of 48 patients with different sites of a primary tumor process were examined using 99mTc-pyrophosphate. Electroroentgenograms were obtained with the help of the Soviet ERGA-MP apparatus in the negative regimen without enlarging the scale of skeletal imaging. Between January 1985 and May 1989, 53 Thoroughbred horses (mean age 3.2 years) were surgically treated for dorsal cortical fractures of the third metacarpal bone (MC III). All horses were treated with cortical drilling through the fracture line (osteostixis). Diagnosis of the fractures was confirmed by xeroradiography. Lifetime racing records were obtained for all horses. Forty-seven horses returned to racing after surgery (89%). The mean time between surgery and the first race was 6.8 months. A combined method of xeroradiographic scanning (ERS) was used for the recognition of tumors of different organs. Altogether 645 cancer patients were investigated: 98 with head and neck tumors, 102--with pulmonary and mediastinal tumors, 254--with liver tumors, 86--with renal tumors, 52--with bone tumors, and 53--with prostatic tumors. A significant drawback of the radioisotopic scanning of the thyroid gland is the absence of a distinct knowledge of topographo-anatomical associations of this gland with other organs and tissues.
