BACKGROUND: Celiac disease may be complicated by symptoms that raise the suspicion of small-intestinal malignancy. The objective is to evaluate wireless capsule endoscopy (WCE) in complicated celiac disease.
METHODS: This is a prospective study at a university referral center. There were 47 patients. The indications for WCE were abdominal pain (57%), cancer surveillance (23%), blood in the stool, or persistent iron deficiency (19%).

Intussusception following gastric surgery is a rare postoperative complication. It may develop in clinical situations following gastroenterostomy, Billroth II gastric surgery with or without Braun anastomosis, or Roux-en-Y gastrojejunostomy. The clinical features and outcome of small intestinal lymphoma remain unclear. We retrospectively analyzed 23 patients who had non-Hodgkin lymphoma with a small intestinal lesion. With a median follow-up of 37 months, the 5-year overall survival and failure-free survival (FFS) were 64% and 60%, respectively. We report two cases of acute myelomonocytic leukaemia with abnormal eosinophils (M4Eo) in which the presenting feature was small bowel obstruction. We suggest there is a unique clinicopathological association between small intestine involvement with leukaemia and the M4Eo subtype. Central nervous system involvement by myeloblastoma occurred in one of the two cases which is a recognised feature of M4Eo and should necessitate prophylaxis with intrathecal therapy. Inversion of chromosome 16 which is a cytogenetic marker for M4Eo was demonstrable in one of the two cases.

We report a male patient with double advanced tumors in the jejunum and descending colon and multiple lung tumors. The intestinal cancers were surgically resected. Immunoprofiling of the specimens revealed a rare phenotype: the jejunal cancer was positive for cytokeratin (CK) 7, partially positive for CK20, and Cdx-2-negative, whereas the colon cancer was CK7(+), CK20(-), and Cdx-2(-). Biopsied lung tumor was diagnosed as tubular adenocarcinoma, and CK7(+)/CK20(+)/Cdx-2(-). Pleuropulmonary blastoma (PPB) is a rare malignant mesenchymal pediatric tumor with a well-recognized association with congenital cystic adenomatoid malformation (CCAM). Recently, it has been described in a patient with CCAM, multiple jejunal polyps, and cystic nephroma. We describe a similar case of a unique presentation of PPB, arising in association with CCAM and with a history of intussception caused by multiple small bowel polyps.
