Surgery has been considered the first choice of treatment in planocellular skin cancers. However, adjuvant radiotherapy is often required in R1 resection or in lymph node positivity. Inoperable cases are also treated with ionizing radiation with palliative purpose. The authors present a case report of a successful treatment of an 87-year-old diabetic patient with a T4N1M0 stage periauricular destructive tumour treated with 3D conformal adaptive radiotherapy. Complete remission occurred although the initial treatment aim was only palliation.

OBJECTIVE: To describe a new technique for combining atresiaplasty with tragal reconstruction by performing the tragal reconstruction with cartilage grafting at the same time as the atresiaplasty for patients with microtia and congenital aural atresia. UNLABELLED: This paper presents a calculation of the head related transfer function (HRTF) for the frontal hemisphere of the phyllostomid bat Phyllostomus discolor using an acoustic field simulation tool based on the boundary element method. From the calculated HRTF results, binaural interaural intensity differences (IIDs) are derived.
THE RESULTS: Region of highest sensitivity, HRTF patterns, and IID patterns are shown to be in good agreement with earlier experimental measurements on other specimens of the same bat species, i.e., the differences are within the interspecies variability range.

The 2-stage Nagata method for auricular reconstruction in patients with microtia is a widely accepted technique. BACKGROUND: Skin grafting is needed for traditional auricular reconstruction. As the skin grafts contract, the postoperative framework is distorted. This leads to a decrease in the auriculocephalic angle. PURPOSE: Acne is a serious disfiguring follicular sebaceous gland disorder that negatively affects patients' quality of life and self-image. Chloramphenicol (CAM) is effective against Propionibacterium acnes and Staphylococcus aureus which cause acne, often used as a hospital preparation for acne treatment. However, because of its toxicity and poor water solubility, its use has been restricted.
