Freshwater cyanobacterial blooms (cyanoHABs) are expanding across the world, and their frequency and severity are becoming more intense due to prevalent eutrophication and a changing climate. Traditionally, the concerns about cyanoHABs have mainly focused on cyanotoxins in water.
