The stepwise modifications of stoichiometric mixtures of titanium chloride (TiCl 4) and titanium iso-propoxide (Ti(OPr (i)) 4) by 2-pyridine methanol (H-OPy) led to the isolation of a systematically varied, novel family of compounds. This paper summarizes the methods and results of estimating risks of cancer incidence resulting from plutonium, carbon tetrachloride, and beryllium releases from operations at the Rocky Flats Environmental Technology Site, near Denver, Colorado, from 1953 through 1989. We investigate the capability of low-coordinated sites on small model clusters to act as active centers for hydrogen storage. A set of small magic clusters with the formula (XY)6 (X = Mg, Ba, Be, Zn, Cd, Na, Li, B and Y = O, Se, S, F, I, N) and a "drumlike" hexagonal shape showing a low coordination number of three was screened. Between September 10, 1973 and May 20, 1975, 94 selected patients were treated with fast neutron beams generated by bombarding an "intermediate" beryllium target with 21 MeV deuterons. The clinical material included: 58 patients with head and neck cancers; 27 patients with cerebral glioblastoma multiforme; and 9 patients with a variety of other neoplasms. Of the 67 patients treated only with neutron beams, 31 received two increments per week and 36 received three increments per week. The calculated doses in most patients were 1800 rad n gamma (neutrons + gamma components) delivered in 6 weeks.

OBJECTIVES: Becker's nevus is a cosmetically bothersome benign hamartoma typically associated with basal layer hyperpigmentation and hypertrichosis. We herein present the largest case series characterizing treatment parameters and clinical outcomes of combined 1550 nm non-ablative fractional resurfacing and laser hair removal (long-pulsed neodymium-doped yttrium aluminum garnet or alexandrite) in the treatment of Becker's nevus. This is also the largest case series of laser treatment of Becker's nevus in Fitzpatrick skin types V and VI.

The binding of phosphate analogs to F-ADP-actin filaments and their effect on the dynamics of the polymer have been investigated. Orthovanadate binds to F-actin with the same affinity as phosphate and, at low saturation levels, stabilizes the filament structure in a Pi-like fashion; at higher concentration, it promotes destabilization of the filament.
