Academic performance in adolescents born after ART-a nationwide registry-based cohort study.

STUDY QUESTION: Is academic performance in adolescents aged 15-16 years and conceived after ART, measured as test scores in ninth grade, comparable to that for spontaneously conceived (SC) adolescents? SUMMARY ANSWER: ART singletons had a significantly lower mean test score in the adjusted analysis when compared with SC singletons, yet the differences were small and probably not of clinical relevance. WHAT IS KNOWN ALREADY: Previous studies have shown similar intelligence quotient (IQ) levels in ART and SC children, but only a few have been on adolescents. Academic performance measured with

Learning-related behaviours versus cognitive ability in the academic performance of Vincentian children.

BACKGROUND: The few studies of children's academic performance in developing countries have largely focused on effects of early risks and cognitive ability and usually neglected other factors such as attention and anxiety. Previously, we reported that scores on the Learning Behaviour Scale (LBS) and the Revised Behaviour Problem Checklist (RBPC) were correlated with academic scores and achievement test scores for village children in St Vincent, the West Indies. AIMS: We examined the stability of LBS and RBPC scores and their ability to predict academic and achievement scores in the same popul

Predicting academic performance with fuzzy logic in prospective physical education and sports teachers.

Numerous factors contribute to student success in educational settings, with academic support and learning strategies identified as key influences. Existing research highlights that various academic assistance and individual learning approaches shape student success. Although different methods are available for predicting academic achievement, the application of fuzzy logic in this context remains relatively underexplored. This study seeks to address this gap by employing a fuzzy logic model to forecast the exam performance of prospective physical education and sports teachers. Specifically, t

Links Between Gambling and Academic Performance Among Undergraduate College Students: A Scoping Review.

Gambling among young people is a growing public health concern, particularly as gambling becomes more accessible through changing policy and increased online gambling platforms. College students are a high-risk population for problem gambling, yet limited research has synthesized evidence on its academic implications. This scoping review examined the association between gambling behavior and academic performance among undergraduate college students in order to summarize findings, identify methodological patterns, and highlight gaps to inform future research. Eligible studies included peer-revi

Academic Performance Following Sport-Related Concussions in Children and Adolescents: A Scoping Review.

Sport-related concussions (SRC) are an increasingly common concern in young athletes, with long-term cognitive, physiological, behavioral, and psychological adverse outcomes. An estimated 1.1 million to 1.9 million SRCs occur per year in children <18 years old in the United States. The post-concussive state has demonstrated consequences in several domains, including athletics and academics, although much more research has been conducted on the former. The objective of this scoping review was to ascertain findings from published studies on the effects of SRCs on academic performance and quality

Academic performance: A longitudinal study on the role of goal-directed rumination and psychological distress.

BACKGROUND: In this research, we examine the relationship between goal-directed rumination, psychological distress, and performance. Although previous research has largely contributed to our understanding of how these constructs are related, the direction of their relationships remains unclear. OBJECTIVES: We argue that goal-directed rumination and psychological distress (conceived as perceived stress and strain) are reciprocally related, and that goal-directed rumination has a positive effect on performance when controlling for the negative effect of psychological distress. DESIGN: We explo
