BACKGROUND: Cosmetic injections are increasing, as their complications, which can be misdiagnosed as neoplastic lesions. This study aimed to detail clinical, pathological, histochemical, and immunohistochemical features of adverse reactions to cosmetic fillers in the oral and maxillofacial region.
METHODS: Samples were retrieved from five pathology laboratories. Hematoxylin-eosin (H&E), Alcian Blue, Sirius Red, and Toluidine blue stains were performed, as well as immunohistochemistry for CD68, CD3, and CD20. H&E was evaluated under polarization. Descriptive statistics were performed.

A study was undertaken to clarify the usefulness of two cationic dyes, alcian blue (AB) and ruthenium red (RR) in demonstrating the defect in cellular membranes noted in minimal change nephropathy (MCN). From the histochemical studies of the mucus factor in normal controls and 10 cases with Hirschsprung's disease including 5 with enterocolitis, using Alcian blue-PAS method, we concluded that ganglionosis had no effect on the secretion of mucus. OBJECTIVE/HYPOTHESIS: To demonstrate a correlation between the duration and specific pattern of trauma of benign lesions of the vocal folds and their histopathologic appearance. Benign lesions of the vocal folds have various macroscopic appearances. Investigations demonstrate characteristic histopathologic features for three clinically well-defined lesions: 1) vocal fold polyps, 2) Reinke edema, and 3) vocal fold nodules. It is expected that additional histological stainings can contribute to additional insight into the pathophysiology of these lesions.
