Angelica sinensis polysaccharide ameliorates chemotherapy-induced intestinal mucositis by regulating gut microbiota-mediated innate immunity and short-chain fatty acid production in Drosophila and mice.

Intestinal mucositis is one of the most debilitating side effects of chemotherapeutic agents. Angelica sinensis polysaccharide (ASP), the crucial active ingredient of Angelica sinensis, has been reported to possess anti-colitis activity. However, the efficacy of ASP against chemotherapy-induced intestinal mucositis (CIM) remain to be clarified. The aim of this study using Drosophila melanogaster and mouse models was to investigate the potential effect of ASP on intestinal mucositis and its underlying mechanism. ASP significantly alleviated overall physiological and intestinal damage caused by

New understanding of Angelica sinensis polysaccharide improving fatty liver: The dual inhibition of lipid synthesis and CD36-mediated lipid uptake and the regulation of alcohol metabolism.

Angelica sinensis polysaccharide (ASP) has presented increasingly recognized lipid regulation and antioxidant abilities. However, there is little direct evidence to explain why ASP possesses the observed lipid-lowering and anti-oxidation effects. In vivo and in vitro models of alcoholic fatty liver disease (AFLD) were established to examine the direct effect of ASP on hepatic fat accumulation. Our results showed that the lipid-lowering effect of ASP might result from the dual inhibition of lipid synthesis and CD36-mediated lipid uptake. The antioxidation of ASP might be attributed to the rever

Multi-perspective integration reveals the molecular and microbiological basis for differences in the biosynthesis of phenylpropanoid-related bioactive compounds in different medicinal parts of Angelica sinensis (Oliv.) Diels.

Angelica sinensis (Oliv.) Diels (Ang) is a major medicinal herb, and its phenylpropanoids constitute the key bioactive compounds. However, the molecular and microbiological basis underlying their accumulation remains unclear, particularly at the sub-regional level of root head, body, and tail (ARH, ARB and ART, respectively). To address this, we integrated whole-genome gene family analysis, differential gene expression profiling, network pharmacology, molecular docking, microbial community characterization, and mediation regression path analysis to systematically investigate the compositional
