Co-Existence of Two Rare Entities in the Male Breast: Intraductal Papilloma and Angiolipoma.

Intraductal papilloma and angiolipoma lesions are very rare in male breasts and gynecomastia is the most common male breast pathology. A 52-year-old healthy Caucasian male patient with right nipple pain for one month and two subareolar and periareolar masses had no other abnormal clinical or laboratory findings. After ultrasound examination, pull-through excision was made with a circumareolar incision in both lesions and the samples were sent for pathological examination. Histopathological examination revealed intraductal papilloma and angiolipoma on the basis of gynecomastia. This case is uni

Non Infiltrating Angiolipoma of the Palate in Geriatric Patient: A Case Report with Review of Literature.

Angiolipoma is one of the rare variant of lipoma. This benign tumour consists of both fatty and vascular elements. It mostly occur in the trunk and extremities and is uncommon in head and neck region. Angiolipoma is classified as infiltrating and non- infiltrating types. Among all neoplasms of the oral cavity, lipomas account for 1 to 5% and the incidence of angiolipoma is 5 to 17% in it. There is no sex predilection for this tumour. It is classified as infiltrative and non-infiltrative type. Surgical excision is the method to be considered for both the types of angiolipoma, however the infilt

Spinal epidural angiolipoma of the vascular-predominant type (type 2): A case report.

Spinal epidural angiolipoma is a rare benign tumor composed of mature adipose tissue and vascular elements. Here, we report the case of an 80-year-old man with progressive gait instability secondary to this tumor. Magnetic resonance imaging revealed a thoracic epidural mass with peripheral fatty components and centrally located vascular tissue showing strong contrast enhancement, extending into the right intervertebral foramen. Surgical excision was performed, and histopathological examination confirmed the diagnosis of angiolipoma. This case underscores that recognizing the coexistence of adi

Sudden onset of paraplegia caused by hemorrhagic spinal epidural angiolipoma. A case report.

Spinal epidural angiolipoma is a rare benign tumor containing vascular and mature adipose elements. A slow progressive clinical course was mostly presented and rarely a fluctuating course during pregnancy. The authors report the original case of spontaneous spinal epidural bleeding resulting from thoracic epidural angiolipoma who presented with hyperacute onset of paraplegia, simulating an extradural hematoma. The patient was admitted with sudden non-traumatic hyperacute paraplegia during a prolonged walk. Neurologic examination showed sensory loss below T6 and bladder disturbances. Spinal MRI

Dorsal thoracic cord compression from a spinal angiolipoma: case report and brief comment.

Angiolipomas are benign tumors usually found in the forearms of young adults. To the best of our knowledge only 63 cases of spinal angiolipomas have been reported in the literature up until 1999 (MEDLINE 1966-1999). We report a case of a spinal angiolipoma causing dorsal cord compression in a 44-year-old woman presenting with subacute lower limb paresthesias, in the absence of sensory or motor findings, which mimicked multiple sclerosis by history. Operative intervention was curative.

Differentiation of Lipedema Nodules and Angiolipomas Based on the Ultrasound and Histopathologic Findings: A Case Series.

Hyperechoic subcutaneous nodules in lipedema may mimic angiolipomas but represent an inflammatory and hypoxic-ischemic process rather than a neoplasia, despite tissue expansion. As the painful nodules expand, biopsy is recommended to exclude cancer. In this context, ultrasound (US) has become a pivotal tool for diagnosing and managing these nodules when combined with histopathologic assessment. However, many professionals in the field still have limited knowledge of this topic. In the present case series, the US and histopathologic findings of hyperechoic nodules in two patients with lipedema

Sudden paraplegia due to spontaneous bleeding in a thoracic epidural angiolipoma and literature review.

BACKGROUND: Spinal angiolipomas are rare epidural tumours that are usually revealed by chronic symptoms of medullar irritation. We report a case of acute paraplegia caused by spontaneous bleeding revealing a thoracic angiolipoma. CASE DESCRIPTION: A 17-year-old male patient with no previous medical history was admitted for acute onset of paraplegia with bladder retention and loss of sensation in the lower limbs, preceded by dorsal pain during the three previous days. MRI showed an enhanced T1-weighted image of a T7-T12 epidural lesion. The T1-weighted isosignal and the T2-weighted hyposignal

Non-Infiltrating Angiolipoma of Floor of Mouth-A Rare Case Report and Literature Review.

Angiolipoma, a subtype of lipoma is a benign tumour in which adipose tissue and vascular component are intermingled. The tumour occurs commonly in the trunk and extremities and very rarely seen in maxillofacial region. Here we report a case of Non-Infiltrating Angiolipoma (NIAL) in floor of mouth which is the second case to be reported in literature to the best of our knowledge. We have reviewed all NIAL cases involving the oral cavity from 2008 to 2016 and found 12 cases of NIAL and assessment was made according to age, sex, site and size of lesion for better understanding of the lesion and i

Colonic angiolipoma - a rare finding in the gastrointestinal tract. Case report and review of literature.

Angiolipomas are benign lesions that are frequently found in subcutaneous cellular tissue, but are rarely located in the gastrointestinal tract. Here we discuss a case of colonic angiolipoma that presented as a mass near the hepatic flexure, occupying approximately 90% of the colonic lumen. The diagnosis was made by endoscopy and computed tomography. The mass was resected successfully and diagnosis was confirmed by histological studies and immunohistochemical tests.

[Invagination caused by angiolipoma of the small intestine--a rare cause of occult gastrointestinal hemorrhage].

We present the case of a 71-year-old woman who was hospitalized because of a severe hip contusion. She had no symptoms or clinical signs of abdominal disease. Routine blood testing showed anemia, presumably owing to occult bleeding. Ultrasonographic abdominal screening revealed ileo-ileal intussusception with a central hyperechoic tumor suggestive of a lipoma as lead point. This diagnosis was confirmed at surgery, where a small bowel resection was performed. Histologic examination disclosed a benign angiolipoma of the ileum with a superficial shallow ulceration which obviously was the source o

[Diagnostic difficulties in benign hypopharyngeal tumors. Demonstrated by a case example of pedicled angiolipoma].

Benign intraluminar tumours of the hypopharynx or upper esophagus are often pedunculate. In cases of very soft tumours such as the present case (angiolipoma), the patient's symptoms may be so uncharacteristic that one might think of a "globus nervosus". If the peduncle is very thin, X-ray esophagograms or even endoscopic examinations may be negative. Those tumours may become very dangerous if, as a result of a vomiting reflex, they obstruct the upper airways. The present paper points out diagnostic problems. Diagnosis may be facilitated if anamnesis is considered carefully.

Preoperative Embolization of a Posterior Mediastinal Lipid-Poor Angiolipoma Mimicking a Paravertebral Nerve Sheath Tumor.

Mediastinal angiolipomas are extremely rare tumors within the thorax, and only 6 cases have been previously reported in the literature. We describe the case of a lipid-poor angiolipoma within the posterior mediastinum of a 63-year-old man who complained of chest pain. Interestingly, initial imaging of the posterior mediastinal mass of our patient suggested a nerve sheath tumor. A specimen from a percutaneous transthoracic core needle biopsy confirmed an angiolipoma. We decided to preoperatively embolize the posterior mediastinal mass to reduce intraoperative bleeding and to facilitate the exci

A Case of Thoracic Epidural Angiolipoma Causing Severe Spinal Cord Compression With Neurologic Manifestations.

A spinal epidural angiolipoma is a rare, benign tumor of adipocytes and blood vessels that accounts only for a small percentage of all spinal axis tumors. We report a case of a 44-year-old male who presented with three months of progressive decreased sensation and strength from about six cm above the umbilicus down to his feet bilaterally. He presented to the emergency room when he could no longer walk. He also had neurogenic urinary retention and likely neurogenic constipation. Physical exam was notable for decreased sensation, decreased strength, and increased patellar reflexes bilaterally.

Giant angiolipoma of the back complicated with ulceration and sepsis: unusual presentation of a rare benign tumour.

A 63-year-old woman presented to the emergency unit with a huge (40 × 35 × 10 cm) oval-shaped pedunculated growth in the back with superficial ulceration in its lower aspect, associated with signs of sepsis. After adequate resuscitation, the patient was transferred to the operation theatre where the tumour was completely excised and the resultant wound was closed in primary manner using polypropylene sutures with suction drains inserted in the wound bed. The patient was discharged home after two days and was followed-up for two months. No wound complications were recorded on follow-up. Angioli

Sudden Aggravated Radicular Pain Caused by Hemorrhagic Spinal Angiolipomas After Back Massage.

BACKGROUND: Spinal angiolipomas (SALs) are benign tumors that usually present a slow progressive spinal cord or radicular compression. Acute myelopathy or acute aggravated radicular syndrome are exceedingly rare. CASE DESCRIPTION: The authors report an original case with sudden aggravated radicular pain caused by hemorrhagic SALs. A 54-year-old woman presented with a 2-month history of mild back pain, and the pain was significantly aggravated after a therapeutic back massage. Neurologic examination showed pain and hyperalgesia between T4 and T7 dermatome, from back to front, just like a band.

Lateral sellar angiolipomas: a therapeutic challenge. Our experience on two cases and review of the literature.

Angiolipomas are rare benign mesenchymal tumours, most commonly found in the subcutaneous tissue of the extremities. These neoplasms are rarely located in the central nervous system (CNS), with spinal localization being the most common in this group. Intracranial location is extremely infrequent, and only ten cases have been described in the sellar region. We report on two more patients with skull-base (intracranial) angiolipomas, the former presented with a long history of headache and the latter complained diplopia. Both patients were postoperatively verified as angiolipoma. Neuroimaging stu

Endoscope-assisted low-temperature plasma radiofrequency ablation of intermuscular angiolipoma in the chest: a case report.

BACKGROUND: Endoscope-assisted surgery (EAS) remains largely unexplored for intermuscular angiolipomas (IA) in children. This study reports a 6-year-old girl with a right chest angiolipoma who underwent EAS via a minintermuscular angiolipomaly invasive anterior axillary fold approach. METHODS: Following ultrasonographic and magnetic resonance imaging revealing a provisional diagnosis of IA, the patient underwent endoscope-assisted low-temperature plasma radiofrequency ablation (LTPRA) under general anesthesia. The procedure was performed through a single 2 cm incision at the right anterior ax

Epidural angiolipoma with concomitant intradural extramedullary capillary hemangioma at the same spinal level: A case report.

Spinal epidural angiolipomas (SALs) and spinal intradural extramedullary capillary hemangiomas (SIECHs) are both types of rare benign tumor, and their pathogeneses appear to be associated. The present report is, to the best of our knowledge, the first case of spinal angiolipoma and intradural extramedullary capillary hemangioma occurring at the same spinal level. A 54 year-old male patient experienced two operations within four months due to the occurrence of SAL and one SIECH at the T3 level presenting with sudden paraplegia. Although the co-occurrence of SAL and SIECH at the same spinal leve
