A combined method of coproovoscopy using potassium iodide (density 1.71) or zinc chloride (1.78) solutions is used for the diagnosis of opisthorchiasis in man, dogs and cats. The method is also useful for diagnosing ascaridiasis, ankylostomiasis, trichocephaliasis, and taeniasis.

An epidemiologic survey has been done in November 1987 on 220 children aged from one to four in the Ancien-Fresco island (Côte-d'Ivoire). The results show that 84.5% of the children whose excreta have been examined have parasites. The Ascaridiasis is the helminthiasis the most frequent.

A coprological examination was performed among 410 adults living in two rural traditional villages of the Bamako region (Mali Republic). The results are compatible with those of several reports coming from other areas. A remark is done about Ascaridiasis which seems to be rare in rural communities of tropical Africa.

The purpose of the study was determination of the frequency of the association of hypochromic anaemia with infections by Ascaris lumbricoides and Giardia intestinalis. Among 5603 studied patients of either sex, aged 3 to 18 years ascaridiasis alone was diagnosed in 226 children (4%), and giardiasis alone in 106 cases (1.9%). The frequency of this anaemia in these groups ranged from 6% to 16%.

Four years after Picot's experiments on parasitic diseases in Réunion Island, and after a large sanitation campaign, the authors valued the effect of this campaign on parasitic incidence. They showed that it had significantly decreased. At the same time, they pointed out the leading part of water quality in parasitic incidence; particularly, they showed that there are twice less Ascaridiasis when water is bacteriologically and chemically safe.

A survey of the same human contingents (children under 14 years and adults) in different zones of Ukraine revealed the opisthorchiasis foci of different intensity in the northeastern part of Polesye and in the forest-steppe zone. Through a survey 751 patients, in whom an endoscopic papillotomy (EPT) had been tried, were registered to the end of 1981. EPT was technically successful in 695 cases (92,5%).
