Patients undergoing gastrectomy for gastric cancer may experience alterations in olfaction, yet the association between olfactory changes and postoperative weight loss remains uncertain. This study aimed to elucidate the relationship between olfactory changes and postoperative weight loss in patients with gastric cancer. Patients who underwent radical gastrectomy for gastric cancer between February 2022 and August 2022 were included in the study. Those experiencing a higher Visual Analog Scale (VAS) score postoperatively compared to preoperatively were deemed to have undergone olfactory change

Little is known about body composition changes in patients with acute myeloid leukemia (AML) during and after treatment or their associations with outcomes. Z-scores for body mass index (BMI), weight, and height at diagnosis, their longitudinal changes from diagnosis to 5 years off therapy, and their associations with adverse effects and outcomes were evaluated in 227 pediatric patients with AML enrolled in the AML02 and AML08 trials at St. Jude Children's Research Hospital between 2002-2017. The median Z-scores for baseline weight, height, and BMI were 0.193, 0.209, and 0.170, respectively, a

BACKGROUND: Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS) is tightly associated with insulin resistance and obesity and characterized by hyperandrogenism, chronic oligo-anovulation and polycystic ovarian morphology when fully expressed. The 2003 Rotterdam consensus proposed that two or three of these features were necessary to make the diagnosis, which generated four phenotypes. Several studies have suggested that these phenotypes could differ in their metabolic and endocrine characteristics and that they could vary in the same patient when analyzed throughout life.
AIM: To determine if the initial classi

1. Mothers were followed from 1 month post-partum up to 12 months post-partum to measure changes in their body-weight and triceps skinfold thickness. 2. Overall there was a significant weight loss in the first few months but this levelled off by 7 months. 3. The triceps skinfold increased significantly up to 5 months post-partum and then decreased. 4. These changes in body-weight and skinfold were not affected by the duration of lactation, smoking or the educational achievement of the mothers, but were influenced by the initial body mass index and the desire to lose weight.

Weekly dexamethasone suppression tests (DST) were performed in 19 hospitalized patients with major depressive disorder, endogenous subtype, and who had an abnormal DST at admission. Depression scores (Hamilton Rating Scale) and weight changes were collected by investigators who were blind to the test results. Major findings were: (1) the DST gradually normalized 3-4 weeks prior to full resolution of clinical symptomatology; (2) weight loss was an important patient variable which may have contributed to false positive DST results; however, the positive correlation between changes in DST results

BACKGROUND: Low body weight is associated with an increased risk of fractures. However, the effect of temporal changes in the low body weight status on the risk of fracture remains unknown. This study aimed to evaluate the relationships between temporal changes in low body weight status and the risk of fractures in adults over the age of 40 years.
METHODS: This study included data on adults over 40 years old who underwent two biannual consecutive general health examinations between January 1, 2007 and December 31, 2009 extracted from the National Health Insurance Database, a large nationwide

CONTEXT: Bisphenol A (BPA), a known endocrine disrupting chemical, is of widespread use in manufacturing of plastic products. Documenting ill health effects of BPA has led the plastic industrialists to replace BPA by its alleged safer alternative, bisphenol S (BPS). BPS belongs to the same chemical family and shares endocrine disrupting properties with BPA.
AIMS: We compared the effects of 28-day exposure of BPA and BPS on body weight changes, organ histology, and relative organ weight in rats. In addition, we detected BPA and BPS in the rat's blood serum.
SETTINGS AND DESIGN: Adult male alb

OBJECTIVE: Weight suppression (WS) and body mass index (BMI) have predicted weight change in individuals with eating disorders, but the interaction between these variables is understudied. Furthermore, WS is usually measured as absolute WS-the numeric difference between current weight and highest past weight-overlooking the potentially important influence of how much a person weighed at their highest historical weight.
METHOD: The current study investigated the independent and interacting effects of BMI and two measures of WS at admission on residential treatment weight change. WS measures in

OBJECTIVE: Both changes in body composition and increased fall risk occur with increasing age. While weight management may be considered a component of falls prevention, the long-term consequences of changes in weight, however, remain uncertain. This prospective study aimed to evaluate the relationship between weight and body composition changes over 5 years with fall occurrence.
DESIGN: Prospective cohort study.
SETTING: Community-dwelling older adults interviewed at baseline (2013-2016) and follow-up (2020-2022) as a part of the Malaysian Elders Longitudinal Research study were included.

BACKGROUND: Although the impact of gestational weight gain (GWG) on birth weight in twin pregnancies has been demonstrated, the specific components of GWG have not been delineated for twin gestations. Fetal body composition has been shown to be modifiable in singleton gestations based on nutritional intervention strategies and may prove to have similar modifications in twin gestations.
OBJECTIVE: We aimed to determine the relation of maternal body composition changes to birth weight, birth length, and neonatal fat mass (FM) in dichorionic-diamniotic twin pregnancies.

Obesity and its attendant conditions have become major health problems worldwide, and obesity is currently ranked as the fifth most common cause of death globally. Complex environmental and genetic factors are causes of the current obesity epidemic. Diet, lifestyle, chemical exposure, and other confounding factors are difficult to manage in humans. The mice model is helpful in researching genetic BW gain because genetic and environmental risk factors can be controlled in mice. Studies in mouse strains with various genetic backgrounds and established genetic structures provide unparalleled oppo

PURPOSE: To understand weight loss strategies, weight changes, goals, and behaviors in people with type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) and whether these differ by ethnicity.
METHODS: T2DM was identified by self-reported diagnosis using the NHANES 2005-2012 data, which also included measured and self-reported current body weight and height, self-reported weight the prior year, and self-reported aspired weight. Nineteen weight loss strategies were evaluated for association with ≥5% weight loss or weight gain versus <5% weight change.
RESULTS: Among people with T2DM, 88.0% were overweight/obese (bo
