CD79 is composed of CD79a and CD79b components expressed almost exclusively on B cells and B-cell neoplasms. CD79a and CD79b expression precedes immunoglobulin (Ig) heavy-chain gene rearrangement and CD20 expression during B-cell ontogeny and disappears later than CD20 in the late (plasma cell) stage of B-cell differentiation. Precursor B lymphoblastic lymphoma is an aggressive but potentially curable disease. This lymphoma most often manifests in the skin and lymph nodes and, less commonly, as lytic bone lesions. In the bone, this lymphoma must be differentiated from small round blue cell tumors, diffuse large B-cell lymphoma, and acute myelogenous leukemia. PTLD is a well-recognized complication of organ transplantation. Large series of heart, renal, and liver transplants have been examined for the incidence and behavior of PTLD. However, reports of the incidence and characteristics of PTLDs in lung transplant (LTx) patients are few. Peripheral T-cell lymphoma (PTCL) may assume a variety of histologic and cytologic appearances. We describe eight cases of PTCL morphologically simulating marginal zone B-cell lymphoma. Central nervous system (CNS) involvement remains a challenge in the diagnosis and treatment of acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL). In this study, we identify CD79a (also known as Igα), a signaling component of the preB cell receptor (preBCR), to be associated with CNS-infiltration and -relapse in B-cell precursor (BCP)-ALL patients. Furthermore, we show that downregulation of CD79a hampers the engraftment of leukemia cells in different murine xenograft models, particularly in the CNS.

We report a case of a 27-year-old woman with a known history of Burkitt-like lymphoma (BLL), who presented with a rapidly enlarging nodule in the suprapubic area. Skin biopsy of the suprapubic nodule was consistent with cutaneous involvement of BLL. BLL is a highly aggressive B-cell lymphoma with a high proliferative rate.
