Interval brain imaging for adults with cerebral glioma.

BACKGROUND: Clinical practice guidelines suggest that magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) of the brain should be performed at certain time points or intervals distant from diagnosis (interval or surveillance imaging) of cerebral glioma, to monitor or follow up the disease; it is not known, however, whether these imaging strategies lead to better outcomes among patients than triggered imaging in response to new or worsening symptoms. OBJECTIVES: To determine the effect of different imaging strategies (in particular, pre-specified interval or surveillance imaging, and symptomatic or triggered imag

Impact of wearable wireless continuous vital sign monitoring in abdominal surgical patients: before-after study.

BACKGROUND: Technological advances have enabled continuous monitoring of vital signs (CMVS) by wearable, wireless devices on general hospital wards to facilitate early detection of clinical deterioration, which could potentially improve clinical outcomes. However, evidence on the impact of these CMVS systems on patient outcomes is limited. This research aimed to explore the effect of CMVS on the clinical outcomes in major abdominal surgery patients in a general surgery ward. METHODS: A single-centre before-after study was conducted from October 2019 to June 2022. Patients in the intervention

Impact of Implementing the Modified Assessment of the Difficulty of Intravenous Access Scale on First-Attempt Venous Access Success: Study Protocol for the Multicenter Prospective Before-and-After Controlled DIVAPERF Trial.

BACKGROUND AND AIMS: Short peripheral catheter (SPC) insertion is crucial in nursing practice and is one of the primary routes for therapeutic administration. Despite its widespread use, this procedure can be challenging for patients with difficult venous access. The management of chronic or long-term pathologies and their associated therapies is directly conditioned by the success or failure of venous access. A Dutch study has developed a scoring system implementing criteria to predict the risk of failure of SPC insertion. This scoring system, derived from a two-phase study, identified clear

Improving vaccination uptake among adolescents.

BACKGROUND: Adolescent vaccination has received increased attention since the Global Vaccine Action Plan's call to extend the benefits of immunisation more equitably beyond childhood. In recent years, many programmes have been launched to increase the uptake of different vaccines in adolescent populations; however, vaccination coverage among adolescents remains suboptimal. Therefore, understanding and evaluating the various interventions that can be used to improve adolescent vaccination is crucial. OBJECTIVES: To evaluate the effects of interventions to improve vaccine uptake among adolescen
