Background: After open or thoracoscopic lung biopsy, it is common to leave a chest tube as a postoperative drain that is typically removed on the first or second postoperative day. OBJECTIVE: The aim of this study was to present a novel approach for complete and permanent ureteral occlusion using a percutaneous injection of Ifabond cyanoacrylate glue.
METHODS: We describe in detail all the steps of our surgery, performed on a 79-year-old patient with urinary leakage from ureteral stump following radical cystectomy. N-hexyl-cyanoacrylate glue (Ifabond) was used to occlude the distal ureter and solve the leakage.

As the tumour progressively enlarged to 8 cm with fetal cardiomegaly and increased middle cerebral arterial peak systolic velocity, embolisation of its feeding artery by percutaneous injection of cyanoacrylate was performed under ultrasound guidance. Treating recurrent vesicovaginal fistula (VVF) is a major clinical problem. We present a technique and special precautions taken during treatment of a small recurrent VVF with the help of combined cystoscopic and/or transvaginal injection of cyanoacrylate in two patients. Except for frequency of micturition in the first patient, postoperative follow-up was uneventful. Endoscopic management with cyanoacrylate is a simple and effective alternative to major reconstructive surgery.

We report a case of multiple retinal arteriolar occlusions due to delayed embolisation of N-butylcyanoacrylate glue, initially injected in the external carotid artery for the management of Carotid body tumour. Ocular massage and anterior chamber paracentesis were unfruitful and patient suffered irreversible visual loss in the affected eye. Embolisation of N-butyl cyanoacrylate glue into the retinal vasculature after intratumoral injection should be kept in mind as a rare but possible complication by radiologists and ophthalmologists.

A patient with Polyarteritis Nodosa presented with abdominal pain and low hematocrit level. Abdominal computed tomography (CT) depicted the presence of free blood and CT angiography revealed two aneurysms in the inferior branch of the splenic artery that were subsequently treated by endovascular transarterial embolization with N-Butyl Cyanoacrylate. Post embolization splenic arteriography demonstrated complete embolization of both aneurysms, including the inflow and outflow vessels.

Once previously attempted conservative maneuvers have failed, iatrogenic persistent urinary fistulas usually require difficult repeated operations. We describe 3 patients in whom cyanoacrylic glue was used to repair endoscopically persistent urinary fistulas occurring after major pelvic surgery. At a mean follow-up of 21 months, all patients were free of urinary leakage and had no evidence of recurrent urinary fistulas. This approach may represent a safe and effective way to repair postoperative urinary fistulas.

Enteroplication has been recommended to prevent recurrence of intussusception in dogs and cats. This study investigated the impact of enteroplication on subsequent function of the plicated small intestine as measured by transit time of barium impregnated polyethylene spheres (BIPS) and compared two methods of achieving enteroplication--sutures using polydioxanone and cyanoacrylate tissue adhesive.
