Cystadenocarcinoma is a malignant tumor that has undergone various classifications due to its wide variety of pathological forms since the World Health Organization (WHO) classification in 2005. We present a case involving a 72-year-old man who reported pain and swelling in the left floor of his mouth during eating. Examination demonstrated a thumb-sized, mobile mass with elastic softness. Resection of the sublingual gland tumor and left submandibular neck dissection were performed under general anesthesia. The lesion was encased in a thin fibrous capsule and consisted of tall columnar epithel

BACKGROUND: Carcinoma of the recto-vaginal septum is a quite rare location and related to peritoneal and primary ovarian carcinomas. There are only few reports in the literature with a very poor prognosis.
CASE PRESENTATION: Here we report the case of a 63 years old woman with past medical history of left oophorectomy presenting with a pelvic pain. The magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) demonstrated a 10 cm mass located in the recto-vaginal septum. A block resection was performed allowing the retrieval of a 10 cm solid tumor of the recto-vaginal septum. Peritoneal biopsies and the right ovary w

CASE DESCRIPTION: A 7-year-old 42-kg (92.4-lb) sexually intact nulliparous female Italian Mastiff was examined because of a history of vaginal prolapse during diestrus.
CLINICAL FINDINGS: A physical examination revealed vaginal fold prolapse. Abdominal ultrasonography revealed an enlarged uterus with hypoechogenic content, corpora lutea in the ovaries, and a cyst in the right ovary. Hematologic abnormalities included leukocytosis, neutrophilia, mild anemia, and low Hct. Progesterone and estradiol concentrations were 9.36 ng/mL and 30.42 pg/mL, respectively, in serum and 72.72 ng/mL and 792 pg

Low-grade cribriform cystadenocarcinoma is a rare tumor that is recognized as a variant of cystadenocarcinoma by the 2005 WHO classification. We report a case of low-grade cribriform cystadenocarcinoma. The patient was a 32-year-old woman who presented with a mass in the right parotid region. Computed tomography and magnetic resonance imaging revealed a polycystic mass in the right parotid gland. The preoperative fine needle aspiration biopsy showed no malignancy, however the frozen section during surgery showed carcinoma. The patient subsequently underwent total parotidectomy with preservatio

We present a case of mucinous cystadenocarcinoma of the renal pelvis associated with a collecting duct carcinoma in a 58-year-old woman with diabetes. Even though several theories about the aetiology of mucinous cystadenocarcinoma of the renal pelvis have been proposed, its origin remains unknown. The present case shows a distinct morphology and immunohistochemical profile that may suggest a clue to its histogenesis.

In the literature, 51 cases of primary retroperitoneal mucinous cystadenocarcinoma have been published. We report the fourth case occurring in a male patient. The 42-year-old patient presented with multiple retroperitoneal cystic masses causing abdominal discomfort without alteration of the global clinical state. The masses were totally removed by a two-stage surgery. No other treatment has been introduced. After a follow-up of 6 months, the patient is disease-free. This rare tumor most likely arises from the mucinous metaplasia of peritoneal inclusion cysts rather than from ectopic ovarian ti

The ovaries are common site of metastasis in a variety of primary neoplasms. Multiple tumors such as breast, lung, and pancreas have been reported to metastasize to the ovary, however; the colon and stomach are the most common primary cancer sites that of ovarian metastasis. An ovarian mass mostly originates from its self-tissue, but sometimes it can be a metastasis of a gastrointestinal system tumor. Such cases are often misdiagnosed as primary ovarian cancers. A 42-year-old woman was admitted to our hospital with pelvic pain. She had a history of her complaints for two months. Bilateral larg

UNLABELLED: Cystadenocarcinoma is primarily characterized by cystic structures of varying sizes, that are lined by epithelial cells. As a rare neoplasm, only four cases of cystadenocarcinoma of submandibular glands have been previously reported. Herein, we reported a unique case of submandibular gland cystadenocarcinoma in a 44-year-old man. By in large, this case had typical morphologic cystadenocarcinoma features. However, mucinous adenocarcinoma-like areas were additionally observed in the tumor tissues. This case was initially misdiagnosed as mucinous adenocarcinoma due to the low incidenc

Retroperitoneal mucinous cystadenocarcinoma (RMC) with no involvement of neighboring structures is very rare, regardless of whether the lesion is primary or secondary. We report the case of a patient who presented RMC seven years after appendectomy and right hemicolectomy. We discuss both diagnostic possibilities.

A case report of a malignant tumor, presumably paramesonephric in origin, is presented. Although uncommon, malignancies of the cystic structures of the broad ligament have been reported. The embryologic derivations and histologic feature of these tumors--mesonephric, mesothelial and paramesonephric--have been describe extensively, but no primary lesion has been evaluated previously by scanning electron microscopy. A prior laparotomy and biopsy with a diagnosis of a malignant papillary growth, probably paramesonephric, stimulated the examination of fresh tissue by an ETEC Autoscan scanning elec

BACKGROUND: Tumors of the spleen are uncommon, and most represent metastases from primary organs. Primary mucinous cystadenocarcinoma of the spleen is an extremely rare tumor. Only 11 cases have been reported in the literature.
CASE PRESENTATION: Herein, we present a case of primary mucinous cystadenocarcinoma in the spleen in a 50-year-old woman. Abdominal CT and MRI revealed a 9.5 × 6.5 cm mixed solid-cystic lesion with heterogeneous enhancement of the mural nodules and septations, with secondary extension abutting the gastric fundus and pancreatic tail. Notably, tumor biomarker profiling d

Low-grade cribriform cystadenocarcinoma (LGCCC) is a rare tumor of the salivary gland that most often arises from the parotid gland. A 51-year-old man developed a small mass on the right parotid gland 5 years ago. A preoperative magnetic resonance image showed abnormal intensity, an atypical characteristic for such a tumor; therefore, the diagnosis was difficult. Thus, a superficial parotidectomy was performed as a total excisional biopsy to remove the tumor. Histopathological analyses revealed that the tumor was composed of a single cyst comprising cells containing mucosal fluid, with prolife

BACKGROUND: Mucinous cystadenocarcinoma is the second most common etiology of appendiceal mucocele. We report a relatively rare case of a giant appendiceal mucocele caused by mucinous cystadenocarcinoma, which occupied the entire abdomen of an adult woman.
CASE PRESENTATION: A 63-year-old woman presented with a chief complaint of abdominal distention. Imaging studies showed a giant cystic mass occupying her entire abdomen. Laparotomy confirmed a giant appendiceal mucocele, and the patient underwent ileocecal resection. A mucinous deposit was not found in her abdominal cavity, and the ovaries

Low-grade cribriform cystadenocarcinoma (LGCCC) is a malignant salivary gland tumor. LGCCC occurs rarely, with the parotid gland being the most commonly afflicted site. Few cases arise in other sites. The present study reports a case of LGCCC that occurred at the palatal gland of the hard palate. A 56-year-old female was referred to Saitama Medical University Hospital (Moroyama, Saitama, Japan) due to an intraoral mass. Since cytological examination and biopsy led to a diagnosis favoring a neoplasm, but with uncertain malignant potential, the tumor was resected with a safe surgical margin. The

In February 2007, a 41-year-old Japanese male was admitted to our hospital with increasing upper abdominal pain. A contrast-enhanced computed tomography (CT) scan of the abdomen demonstrated a well-demarcated, hypodense cystic mass with a thickened wall in the mesocolon. The laboratory results were within normal limits, except for increased carcinoembryonic antigen, carbohydrate antigen 19-9, DUPAN-2 and SPAN-1. The patient was diagnosed as having a mesenteric malignant cyst, and during a laparotomy, a right hemicolectomy with mesenteric cystectomy was performed without rupture in March 2007.

INTRODUCTION: Central papillary cystadenocarcinoma of the jaw is an extremely rare tumor with only three previously reported cases in the English literature. This tumor is a histologically low-grade cancer, affecting more commonly in the mandible than in the maxilla.
PRESENTATION OF CASE: A 65-year-old woman presented with a two months history of a rapidly growing, painless mass of the right ascending ramus of the mandible. The pathologic report from incisional biopsy was a papillary cystic tumor with a differential diagnosis of cystadenoma versus cystadenocarcinoma. Segmental mandibulectomy,
