RATIONALE: Peritoneal mucinous cystadenoma is rare in the clinic, lacks specific clinical manifestations, tumor markers, and imaging features, and is easily misdiagnosed and missed. Clinical practitioners should maintain a high level of vigilance. Here, we report a case of laparoscopic peritoneal mucinous cystadenoma stripping to improve our understanding of the disease.
PATIENT CONCERNS: A 34-year-old woman was admitted to our hospital with a history of epigastric pain over the past year that had worsened over the previous 4 months. The patient had no history of trauma or surgery.

History Part one of this case appeared 4 months previously and may contain larger images. A 40-year-old woman presented to the outpatient department of our hospital with a 2-year history of abdominal pain, which had worsened in the past few days. There were no other constitutional symptoms; in particular, there was no weight loss or loss of appetite. The serum amylase and serum lipase levels were always within normal limits, even during the current episode. There was no history of pancreatitis, alcohol abuse, drug use, or trauma. The patient was evaluated at an outside clinic 2 years ago and u

BACKGROUND: Intrahepatic biliary cystadenoma (IBC) is a rare benign hepatic tumor that is often misdiagnosed as other hepatic cystic diseases. Therefore, imaging examinations are required for preoperative diagnosis. Contrast-enhanced ultrasound (CEUS) has gained increasing popularity as an emerging imaging modality and it is considered the primary method for screening IBC because of its specificity of performance. We describe an unusual case of monolocular IBC and emphasize the performance of CEUS.
CASE SUMMARY: A 45-year-old man complained of epigastric pain lasting 1 wk. He had no medical h

Oncocytic papillary cystadenoma (OPC) is a relatively rare benign tumor of the salivary glands, frequently seen in minor salivary glands, and occasionally in major salivary glands, such as the parotid gland. Patients only become symptomatic upon progression of the swelling, causing obstructive symptoms depending on its location. To our knowledge, there are no reports of presentation with bleeding tumor. Herein, we report a case of an OPC of the right torus tubarius in a 54-year-old man who presented with recurrent epistaxis.

Pseudo-Meigs syndrome combines a benign (all histological types are included) or malignant (primitive ovarian tumor or ovarian metastasis from another primitive tumor) ovarian tumor or a pelvic tumor (not necessarily ovarian or uterine, for example) with ascites and pleurisy (non-metastatic in the case of malignant tumor). These effusions disappear after tumor resection. A 37-year old female patient was admitted to our Department with dyspnoea and left intercostal pain. Radiological examinations showed left pleurisy of average abundance, ascites of low abundance and a pelvic mass. Surgical exp

Epithelial cystic neoplasms of the epididymis are rare, the commonest is papillary serous cystadenoma. Recently, few cases of epididymal nonpapillary serous cystadenoma (NPSC) were reported. They have unique histomorphologic and immunohistochemical features that help distinguish them from other cystic lesions of the paratestis. All the reported cases presented as a single unilateral epididymal cyst. We report a unique example and, to our knowledge, the first case of multiple bilateral NPSC of the epididymis. Moreover, it showed a pigmented epithelium.

Biliary cystic tumors, such as cystadenoma and cystadenocarcinoma, are rare cystic tumors of liver accounting for fewer than 5% of all intrahepatic cysts of biliary origin. Most biliary cystic tumors arise from intrahepatic bile duct and 10-20% arise from extrahepatic bile duct like common hepatic duct, common bile duct, and gallbladder. The first case report of biliary cystic neoplasm in Korea dated back to 1975 by Bae et al, and over 40 cases of cystadenoma and 35 cases of cystadenocarcinoma were reported since then. These tumors usually present in middle-aged women with a mean age of 50 yea

A cystic lesion in the body of the pancreas was detected during staging workup of a 59-year-old woman with T-cell lymphoma of the tongue. After six cycles of chemotherapy the pancreatic lesion was unchanged. Suggestive ulceration of the vulva with edema appeared at the end of chemotherapy. After right vulvar excision, distal pancreatic resection with splenectomy was carried out by a hand-assisted laparoscopic technique utilizing a small muscle-splitting right lower quadrant incision. This allowed for palpation of the peritoneal cavity for evidence of tumor and allowed for safe and expeditious

Hepatobiliary cystadenoma is a rare hepatic neoplasm which has a high tendency to recur and has malignant potential. We review the literature and report a case of intrahepatic cystadenoma presenting with abdominal pain and ascites following spontaneous rupture. Complete excision of the tumor offers the best chance of cure and avoids recurrence, secondary infection or malignant change.

A gastrointestinal stromal tumortumour (GIST) is an uncommon gastrointestinal neoplasm that can arise from any part of the gastrointestinal tract. They can rarely present as a pelvic mass, which might result in a gynaecological condition being misdiagnosed in a female patient. A woman in her early 70s presented with a huge pelvic mass. Abdomen-pelvis CT scan showed a significant cystic mass in the left-sided pelvis with a mass effect on adjacent structures, which suggested a possibility of an ovarian cystadenoma. Her CA-125 was normal. She underwent an exploratory laparotomy with pelvic mass e

Biliary cystadenoma (also called mucinous cystic neoplasm with low-grade intraepithelial neoplasia) is a rare cystic tumor that arises from the biliary epithelium. The cause of biliary cystadenoma is still unclear. Jaundice is a rare presentation of intrahepatic biliary cystadenoma, which can lead to a diagnostic dilemma. Herein, we present a case of intrahepatic biliary cystadenoma that primarily exhibited as jaundice. A 56-year-old woman has suffered from yellow staining of her skin and sclera for more than 1 month. She had a poor appetite and mild epigastric pain. Laboratory examination sho

We report an interesting case of extraovarian, primary seromucinous cystadenoma, which presented as a mesenteric cyst. A 31-year-old woman came with complaints of lower abdominal pain for 2 years, which is intermittent and aggravated during the menstrual cycle. On examination, her vitals were within normal limits; per abdominal examination revealed 7×7 cm mass in the right lumbar and right hypochondrium with well-defined margins. A Contrast-enhanced whole abdomen done showed a thin-walled of cyst of size 7×8×9 cm in the right lumbar region abutting and replacing the mesenteric border of ascend

INTRODUCTION: Appendectomy is the most common emergency surgical procedure performed worldwide. Mucinous cystadenoma is a rare benign tumor of the appendix. There is no agreement on the best surgical approach for its management. Recently, laparoscopic approach is being increasingly tried. Careful excision of the tumor is mandatory to avoid content spillage into peritoneum resulting in pseudomyxoma peritonei.
CASE PRESENTATION: A middle-age male patient presented to the emergency department complaining of chronic abdominal pain, bleeding per rectum and recurrent attacks of vomiting. Preoperati

A 24-year-old man presented himself with a nodular lesion of about 1 cm diameter at the site of a previous orchiopexy associated with surgery for cryptorchism. Histopathology revealed the lesion to be adenomatous and confined to the scrotum. Histological and immunohistological features were not consistent neither with median raphe cysts or cutaneous adenomas nor with the intrascrotal adenomas of the rete testis, epididymis, nor with (malignant) mesotheliomas. However, the lesion did compare well with serous (papillary) cystadenomas of the testis or paratestis. These adenomas are thought to ori

A 40-year-old woman without symptoms, with a three-week amenorrhea, and with no previous pregnancy history. Three months before she followed treatment with clomifeno and no other risk factors. A measure of beta fraction is performed, finding a probable pregnancy of 3-4 weeks. A new measure of beta fraction is made three weeks later with an ultrasound, finding an important increment in measure, but without evidence of intrauterine pregnancy in the ultrasound. A new ultrasound is made seven weeks after her last period, finding a mass in the left ovary, but without increment in beta fraction. At

We report a case of a 56-year-old woman with intrahepatic biliary cystadenoma (IBC) accompanying a tumor embolus in the extrahepatic bile duct, who was admitted to our department on October 13, 2008. Imaging showed an asymmetry dilation of the biliary tree, different bile signals in the biliary tree, a multiloculated lesion and an extrahepatic bile duct lesion with internal septation. A regular left hemihepatectomy en bloc was performed with resection of the entire tumor, during which a tumor embolus protruding into the extrahepatic bile duct and originating from biliary duct of segment 4 was

Appendical cystadenoma is one of the histological forms of the appendical mucocele. Preoperative diagnostics is difficult, however, due to potential iatrogennic rupture during a surgical procedure, is very important. The authors present a case review of a 62-year-old patient with itususception of the appendical cystadenoma, until now rarely reported in literature. Upon the preoperative diagnosis the appendical cystadenoma appeared as a caecal tumor or a tumor of the terminal ileum. A histological, intraoperative, diagnosis was established, followed by a final histological examination of the re

Mucinous metaplasia occurs uncommonly in cutaneous pathology, usually at specialized anatomic locations (genitalia, palms, and soles) and within restricted pathologic contexts (inflammation and trauma). Here, we report a unique case of eccrine mucinous metaplasia associated with an apocrine cystadenoma. A 13-year-old girl had an asymptomatic, 4-mm nodule on the chest. Histopathology demonstrated a typical apocrine cystadenoma in the upper and middle dermis. Adjacent to this lesion was a cluster of coiled eccrine secretory glands, of which the inner layer was almost entirely replaced by benign-
